Are you sure that you typed the script correctly?I think I had the same problem when I typed "Default" instead of "Defaults". If that's the case, I reedited the file, corrected the typo and then ctrl+o, ctrl+x

+HasanEmre Tonguç (h3T) type "bootctl install" and then follow the tutorial. If you do the check (cd /boo, ls), you'll see that your outcome is the same. I read that gummiboot has incorpotated in bootctl...

+Giannis Gl you need to create a user and assign a password to that user in order to log in as that user. useradd -m -g users -G wheel, storage, power -s /bin/bash someusername and set a pass for that user: passwd someusername

+Hova first check your internet connection to make sure it is working: ping -c 3 google.com if you get a ping, double check that your server edits were done correctly by initiating a fresh list: cp /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.backup sed -i ‘s/^#Server/Server/’ /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.backup then try rankmirrors again: rankmirrors -n 6 /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.backup > /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist if this does not work, check the backup to see if any mirrors were uncommented. if not, you may have to manually uncomment a few in your country. nano /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.backup if you had to do this manually, copy your mirror list over again: cp /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.backup /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

+Purplepanda Express (Cubchooseyou) Still nothing, my apologies. Although for whatever reason, using Architect works just fine, even though its just a CLI window doing the same stuff

+Oberlemonne did you ever figure out what was going on with that? I have the same problem. bootctl keeps telling me that it isn't and EFI partition.

Thats what I did. Like I said, bootctl says that my EFI partition isnt actually an EFI partition, even after checking in cgdisk and formatting to fat32 again.

+Shawn Carter Gummiboot was merged into systemd as systemd-boot (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Systemd-boot) so pacman won't find it. For gummiboot (systemd-boot) the 'bootctl install' is what installs the boot code, after that make the 'loader.conf' and the 'arch.conf' entry. The link above should have all that good stuff.

+GloriousEggroll are you suggesting to restart the entire process or can there be a way to make that switch from in here? Edit - I decided to restart from the beginning, entering into my BIOS to insure that my settings are turned on to UEFI. Followed your every steps and get the same message. I proceeded to retrieving gummiboot error: target not found: gummiboot Moreover, I began to follow +Giannis GI answer with typing "bootctl install". Retyping pacman -S Gummiboot gets me nowhere. Any suggestions? Cheers

+URann IEL either your system is not in EFI mode or you did not boot the ARCH install in EFI mode.

+GloriousEggroll Thank you very much! Actually there were 2 errors. After I changed the fstab, I noticed the filename it couldn't find was not vmlinuz-linux but vnlinuz-linux, so I took a look at the actual file name and changed it to vmlinuz-linux in the /boot/loader/entries/arch.conf. I still have no idea what I did wrong about generating the fstab but it works now so thanks once again and have a nice day! :)

+ProXicT I have an updated 2016 guide that has better instructions, but for now, here's how to fix your issue sounds like maybe you generated the fstab wrong somehow. root directory needs to be / not /mnt steps to correct: 1. Boot via USB mount your root directory: mount /dev/sda3 /mnt mount your home and boot directories which reside inside root: mount /dev/sda4 /mnt/home mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot chroot into your installation: arch-chroot /mnt edit fstab: sudo nano /etc/fstab check all partition directories in fstab are assigned as: / /boot /home ctrl+o to save, ctrl+x to exit, reboot
