So last week I posted a video of Forza Horizon 4, running on Fedora 34 in Steam Play/proton, at 4k Ultra with resizable bar enabled.For reference, the 4k 60 ultra resizable bar video can be found here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpu2b8nIxIY&lcThis time, we now -also- have an FSR patch set (AMD Fidelity Super Resolution) which works alongside proton's fullscreen hack.Proton's fullscreeen hack is a modification to proton which allows displaying smaller or non-standard resolutions within your monitor's default resolution without changing it. Essentially it's capable of doing what FSR does -- scaling up smaller resolutions. However now that FSR has been released, that hack has been retro-fitted using FSR for it's upscaling backend. Meaning yes -- FSR can be used on almost any game running in proton. There are a few limitations, for example some games which already have FSR or other scaling implementation may not work.So the way this works is -- the FSR resolutions are patched in alongside FSR for the upscaling backend. Since the fullscreen hack already attempts to upscale, all you have to do is set the game's resolution to a lower resolution, preferably one of the FSR resolutions:FSR Preset Scale Factor 4K Input 1440p Input 1080p InputUltra Quality 1.3X 2954x1662 1970x1108 1477x831Quality 1.5X 2560x1440 1706x960 1280x720Balanced 1.7X 2259x1270 1506x847 1130x635Performance 2.0X 1920x1080 1280x720 960x540There is even an additional variable so that you can fine tune the sharpening used in the patch set. Anyway, so what I've done here is added the patches for both FSR with fullscreen hack and resizable bar, then set my resolution to 2954x1662 in game, since my monitor is running at 4k, that way the fullscreen hack utilizes FSR to upscale. The rest of the in-game settings are all set to ultra, and the end result is another 25 fps boost on top of the 133 fps that resizable bar alone was giving us, totaling about 160 fps

added to case description, you likely will not be able to cleanly apply them, as mentioned i had to manually add the fsr input resolutions and it relies on proton's fullscreen hack

This looks so compressed even watching it at 4k fullscreen. Could you please upload it on another service which doesn't compresses this much at full size? It doesn't have to be a long video, only a few seconds to see the most precise quality.

The video is 1080p. The game was played in 4k, my capture card receives 4k input and downscales it to 1080p for recording.

there is some kind of rubberbanding / frame skipping on the recording, you can see it when you pass the car at 01:13 but I think it happens regularly trough the video (I know is not the point of the video, just pointing out, is great to have FSR on wine)

This FSR fullscreen upscaler patch is a GEM ! It really brings back to life my old PC (GTX970 3.5Gb) and turn a choppy mess into a smooth gameplay. I stick to a 720p to 1080p upscaling ,so it is not "beautifull" but it looks very close to 1080p and much better than what I could achieve at 1080p native with lower details to reach a decent frame rate. I used it in DCS and Mass Effect Andromeda, and it adds at least 50% to 70% to the frame rate !!

Thx @GE for adding FidelityFX support to ProtonGE 6.13+. I just found out about it and started trying it on my openSUSE Tumbleweed build immediately. Seems my 75W RX 560 will be able to survive a little bit longer. Gotta say, you rock. I hope your YT channels explodes with subs one day, you deserve it. That being said, a question: How can one choose between quality FX levels after adding WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 to the Steam launch options? Cheers

one thing I found out today, was I had to delete the pre cashing. When I went to a new version of proton GE. Read dead would not launch despite deleting the game id folder after having troubels launching the game, so i tested to delete the shaders and that worked.

Does resizable bar work on the Vega 56? I switched to a 2070 a while ago but kept the 56 in storage. On Linux, the 56 I can see doing just as well if not a bit better than the 2070 does on Windows 10. I plan to switch to Linux for good once Halo Infinite launches hoping Valve's new Proton will make sure it's playable because the test flight didn't work apparently, and I'm thinking of going back to the Vega for the sake of sticking to MESA instead of Nvidia's proprietary drivers.
