GTA V / GTA V Online running on Ubuntu Linux through Steam play.

Steps to make it work on Steam Play:
1.Install mscorefonts 
2.Create "gta_dxvk.conf" file with the contents:

dxgi.customDeviceId = E366
dxgi.customVendorId = 1002

3.Set a steam launch option(right click game on steam - properties - set launch options) that points to the file you created above:
DXVK_CONFIG_FILE=/path/to/gta_dxvk.conf %command%

Yeah it works really well and now with the 396.54.05 drivers theres around 20% performance boost. went from 70-90fps to 90-110 with those. Online works also great but i dont really like online that much, joining matches is weird, specially when you want to join with a friend, someitmes you end up in different matches etc, also it seems to be a lot of grind to get somewhere and its full of kids.

How do you install mscorefonts on Proton? I can't get how to "tweak" it like Wine. No see no Winetricks.

you install the fonts with your system package manager. its system wide installation then, no need for winetricks or protontricks

Hi there. Are you still triple-screen gaming? If so, have you found an easier way to switch in and out of single/triple screen gaming besides editing "Xinerama" settings in xorg.conf on the NVIDIA X Server settings?

Yeah it would be great, I do it so rarely just because I can't be arsed constantly messing with it. But I'll definitely look into it soon since I got some games I want to check in triple screen :D

Yeah it would be real nice if we had some sort of hotkey solution to do that from the desktop rather than poke with config files aye? Maybe one day.

I would love to try GTA5 on Linux for a change, however, I doubt the shown material also goes for the Rockstar Social Club Version, right?

That's a relief! What I actually meant is that all the reviews on pages such as the WineHQ mention the Steam version of GTA5 to run just fine whereas the version grabbed from Rockstar Social Club (which I happen to own) seems not to work all that great.

I'm not sure what that means but gtav runs great on my linux distro that is based on Ubuntu. And it signs in with rockstar social club every time I launch it.

The music you were trying to turn off was the actual game music. There is actual bgm for the single player to fill in the silence and enhance the experience. I guess there's a setting for that but I really don't think you need to worry.

i need PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 in the launch options otherwise it says it can't find a directx 10 or 11 video card. Edit: Updating mesa to >= 18.3 allows me to remove the WINE3D3 argument and get full frame rate. (I guess that makes it use wine instead of proton.)

I use Lutris cuz i have the socialclub edition and when i try to join online it's stuck on loading screen until it gets a error and closes the game
