Thanks! Be sure to try it out! We could make a multiplayer skirmish at some point... would be fun. =)

This should have been in the game at launch. I backed it on Kickstarter and I felt cheated, they promised a spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper and I had to wait two years and pay $8 before the game was anything like Dungeon Keeper.

Who the fuck decided that Sandbox Dungeon Building was a "Niche Game Mode", the ENTIRE CAMPAIGN of Dungeon Keeper 2 let you move at your own pace and build dungeons however you wanted within the confines of the map. People backed this game expected it to be a Spiritual Successor to Dungeon Keeper 2. People were happy just to have a game like this, but it isn't what we wanted when we backed it, and there was a lot of fallout when it first came out because of it. This game could not have ever been made if not for that "Niche Game Mode" that made up practically the entire game this one cashed in on Nostalgia for. My Pet Dungeon should have been free and it should have been in the game at launch.

DK 2 let you take your time in almost all mission, if not in all missions. I can't remember one where you were forced to Rush. In WftO every Campaign mission plays like "There's an ememy, go destroy it" and that's the emphasis of everything you do. Until you destroy it the enemy is claiming your territory and breaking all your walls. WftO campaign doesn't give you a chance to slow down and enjoy carefully hand crafting your dungeon, and in fact it actively discourages you from carefully hand crafting your dungeon with lots of Pre-Built Rooms, and bad map design for room placement. *nothing beats the good old DK1* I prefer DK2 personally because DK1's graphics make it unplayable for me. I'd love to play DK1 with WftO style graphics, it certainly had more interesting maps. *the "niche" sentence was my own* But I've heard that said several times on the forums as well and as far as I can tell, there's no basis for it. *they didn't have the resources behind them* They had our backing on Kickstarter, and I received a comment from a dev on the forums which revealed that they legit did not realize that people would have wanted My Pet Dungeon. Apparently their focus in DK2 had been on Multiplayer, which is why they just didn't understand fundamental things about DK2's single player.

Nah, it's all subjective, as are my thoughts in the video. DK2 campaign certainly had its moments where you were forced to rush the objective - definitely not the majority of missions, but they were there. Same goes for WftO, it doesn't make you rush most of the time when it comes to the campaign missions. But that's that, nothing beats the good old DK1... maybe DK2 in some respects (updates to the interface for an example). But to clarify - the "niche" sentence was my own, not coming from any reliable source or developers. It is just based upon how I personally enjoyed the games. I have always preferred the campaign and skirmish matches in DK series over the pet dungeon game modes - not to say that I haven't played it, yes, it was enjoyable, but not the core component to the game, for me. WftO was developed by an indie company (essentially) and as they didn't have the resources behind them (as I might think Bullfrog had back in the day), they needed to release the game in parts in order to keep the funding up for the project... at least that's what I think. So it makes sense that the pet dungeon was not released initially with the full game release. Whether that's an excuse to ask money for the MPD content expansion - subjective, don't know. I paid for it, haven't used it any more after running through it once, but yeah, it's a niche game mode for me. (ofcourse I acknowledge that it was part of the original series' core) =)

If you played the DK2 Campaign, it doesn't matter if you played the pet dungeon mode or not, the whole campaign was Sandbox. It didn't twist your arm and force you to rush, you could take as much time as you wanted or needed progressing through the levels. The only mode of play where you had to rush was online multiplayer and skirmish mode. Maybe you found that more appealing, and that's fine, but the main campaign and Pet Dungeon certainly wasn't "niche". Who decided that stuff was Niche? We haven't been allowed to have anything like that in over a decade before now, you can't just decide something people haven't even been allowed to have is niche. It certainly wasn't niche when we had it.

Hi, Not all people are the same - when I played through DK1&2 in the past, I rarely ever touched the Pet Dungeon parts as I found the actual skirmishes and campaigns more appealing - same goes for WftO. So to answer your question - I-the-fuck-decided that it's a niche game mode, as it is, for me. Fun from time to time, but definitely not the main appeal of the game. Regarding the campaign - it is pretty much as it was in DK2 - both allow you to build dungeons however you want within the confines of the map - also, both have many missions where you cannot camp around for too long. Only DK1 allowed you to take stuff really slowly almost on every level, but in every reasonable sense there is, this indeed is a successor to the DK series. Regarding My Pet Dungeon as DLC - yeah, it would have been nice if it was released as a free DLC - but to be honest, I don't mind supporting great developers - since I don't do My Pet Dungeon regularly and prefer other game modes, then I take it more as a tip to the devs anyway... plus it's cheap. =)
