Ah, indeed. Then the calls for unimplemented features would simply fail to render properly, I think. :) But then again, it should give you an error during startup that dx11 is needed when you don't have the opengl4.5 fix. In any case, let me know how it turns out! =)

I'll build the updated version of Wine and report back :) Also, I haven't done the OpenGL 4.5 Registry fix, that may be why I have more glitches.

Hmmh, I built wine-staging 2.10 by downloading the AUR pkgbuild and just pointed it to the 2.10 release in wine-staging official git to get the source files. Then patched them with sample_c_lz hack as mentioned here: https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=58404&action=diff#a/dlls/wined3d/glsl_shader.c_sec1 After that it was just straight up compiling the whole package. CSMT and registry fix for directx11>opengl4.5 were the only needed changes after the install, and for smoother gameplay, gl_threadedoptimizations in Steam launch options. Some input lag was also noticeable when using regular wine, but it seems to have gone away with the staging release... hmmh, by any chance - maybe you have vsync on? That will cause a biiiig input lag, at least for me. :D For my system in linux, I just disable all vsync, because I force fullcompositingpipeline in xorg file for nvidia drivers and everything becomes tear-free and lag-free. Maybe it helps. =)

The Wine build I provided it based on vanilla Wine 2.10, I need to rebuild it from wine staging. Apparently, you have way less glitches than I do on my end, the sample_c_lz patch fixed a lot of things but my game doesn't look nearly as good as yours. Also, I have severe input lag and I have no idea what could be causing this…

That's excellent and what I used for the last video, but let's hope that the wine-staging version reaches Lutris soon as well... and hopefully they include the sample_c_lz hack. =)

Yep, the lighting still needs some work as it is definitely not accurately doing the lighting part, alas, it is now playable at least. :)

Not beautiful, I noticed somewhere land is too black, world itself is not so saturate and bright in comparison to that you'll see in Windows

HUGE THANKS to you for pointing me in the correct direction towards the sample_c_lz hack! =) Yep, it's finally playable. Now only a few lighting issues remain and well, Hairworks - but that I'm not sure of will it ever be fixed on Linux/Wine.

This card works only with fglrx, because it is TAHITI LE. Sorry I can't. I hope this situation will be changed in the future. Wine's DX11 is still bleeding edge. Although DX9 games run fine with fglrx

I wish someone with a high-end AMD card could test this as well - it would be interesting to see. =)

this isn't true anymore. open source drivers are performing very well and support OpenGL 4.5 as well as Vulkan.

Yeah, that's the unfortunate truth about it. I am not sure what is the current state of the AMD drivers as I moved over to the green team 3 years ago due to linux support, but at that time it was bad, really bad. For any gamer having an AMD rig - going with Windows is pretty much "a must". :(

Well, yeah, it's still WINE. Basically the more single-core performance your CPU can dish out, the better the performance - hence the reason I'm sticking with my old 4790k. =)

Forgot to thank you on the first comment though, so... THANKS! ;D But yes, I keep the windows partition around for such cases... and... now there's Resident Evil 7 to complete, which will probably never come to Linux... so yeah, Windows is a necessity if you want to get the most from the money which you've spent on the hardware. But I do all my other workflows (and other available gaming) on Linux as it is more customizable and allows for a better workflow... but everyone's milage will vary. I don't know even why I'm writing this at the moment... must be the weather. Anyways, have a great day! :)

Thank you for responding this quick, I'll give Lutris a try and hope for the best, but if it doesn't work, i'll stick to windows a little bit longer ;)

Hi! Probably the easiest way to test it out is by using an app called Lutris which does all the wine installation and magic for you. You can download it from: https://lutris.net/downloads/ Witcher3 on Lutris: https://lutris.net/games/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/ As I managed to get it playable, with the latest release, the performance has however degraded again and the game is not very playable. (lighting is off, people's faces glitch after chatting with them...) I don't know if it's just my wine setup that's acting up again or similar, because I've seen sirdeadalot play it on a stream and it has worked just fine. Really long story short - it's a pain and not worth it yet. Hopefully by the end of summer/autumn, we should get it running stably and able to provide stable solutions on getting it running on Linux. If you have Windows in dual-boot, I strongly recommend to use that for Witcher3 for now. (I know I do from time to time :D )

This patch is implemented oob in wine-staging 2.13, changing gnome session from wayland to xorg gives me huge performance boost.
