Decided to benchmark the two versions side-by-side as Linux version did not seem on-par with my expectations - Maxed out around 60fps constant. Feral did an amazing job porting it, but OpenGL is just not up to the task.

not bad i would say.. its a port afterall so some drop is expected..and opengl vs dx12 difference should be huge, so feral did pretty good job porting it

Pretty little I'm afraid. It's more of an OpenGL's fault not being able to handle the rendering of so many different objects at one time - at least that's what I think. Vulkan should make it better though - reference is the Vulkan Gnome Demo which was released way back... it should be pretty much the same deal as that demo showed.

How much of a role could the nvidia drivers play in this? I assume they are more optimized for Windows. I hope that Vulkan picks up.

Correction, even Windows ain't able to provide maxed out... when you crank AA to fullest, it dies.

Feral indeed did an amazing job considering the limitations of OpenGL vs DX12. Though from the consumer's standpoint, if maxed out graphics are one's thing, then only Windows is able to provide this at the moment. But Vulkan is the future and let's have a drink on "the year of linux desktop" - as we do every year! :D
