Heya! Better, thanks for asking! Still on meds but at home at least and able to consume some more decent cold-foods now. :D No voice for this month however - already have 4 "Thoughts Upon" episodes waiting to be "sung in". :D

Thanks for those videos. I almost bought the game to celebrate my new machine, which will be able to run it easily, hardware-wise. The glitches in part remind me of The Witcher 1 on my current Intel HD 3000...
Too bad, this seems to be a good game.
TW3 seems to have enough problems on Windows still and I bet CDPR are busy with Gwent and Cyberpunk 2077. I'm not holding my breath.

I strongly recommend going through TW1 and TW2 with carrying over your save-games. I did so on the hardest difficulties and it was a hellova challenge, but the little things which carry on with your choices were awesome to notice and carried over nicely throughout the series with the attitude towards Geralt from different characters. :P

Thanks. It's been many years since I last ran Windows, I'm not going to start now. Hair detail is the least of my worries. I think the special hair thing usually won't work on AMD cards anyway. Your videos convinced me that there is progress and the game is close to being playable, so I've bought it. I'm looking forward to it. If it doesn't work well enough yet I have still to finish TW1 and to even start TW2 :)

Not sure if it was the "sample_c_lz" bug. I'll test the buffer pool hack, thanks! Looks like anyone who have used it reports a higher framerate without any foreseeable drawbacks. The videos work right out of the box. =) I think if you're getting your rig next week, the 2.9-staging wine might get released by then. It would not render the hair on characters properly and with some glitches, but theoretically it should be somewhat playable - the other question is, how enjoyable would it be. I'd stick with the windows version until we have the solid base of the game working, but trust me, I understand the eagerness to give it a go as this is the best game ever in my mind. :D

That sounds like good news! Do you think it was this bug? https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42863 I wonder, have you had a chance to try the buffer pool hack mentioned in this bug report? https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42592 Do the videos work for you? https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42414 Sorry to bombard you with those questions... It's just that if it is playable, even if not perfect, I would get it now and could start a LP once I've built and set up the new machine (sometime next week).

Thank you for the kind words! Indeed, TW3 is an excellent game but the best bet we have of getting it running on a Linux machine, is through WINE - the wine 2.9 seems to solve the missing ground rendering issues, but I'm unable to get it running steam. Ever since 2.4, only -staging branch has worked for me oddly enough. But as soon as it's 2.9-staging is out, I'll update the case. =)
