A short and rough video of what has happened to the channel, why I've been away and what lies ahead. I can tell you this much - things are changing and more content is on its way.

welcome back, nice monitor I will like to hear your opinions with the aspect ratio 21:9, the past year I bought one with 144 but I stick 16:9. I will like to hear someone that made the change and more on Linux.

Just ordered the same monitor, really hyped for it. Are you happy with it, looks like you've been with it for some time. Do you play any FPS games on it?

@@stn2467 It's not that far off from Estonia - I got a 2080Ti for 1400 eur - RIP my poor wallet. Kind of disgusted by myself for getting it but it offers the performance I need. The 2080 Strix goes for around 900 eur here and the Radeon VII, well, that one cannot be seen anywhere anyways. 2080 is pretty much perfect for the XG35VQ - you can get the max out of the 100Hz display on most games without any compromises and when the fps does drop, you can simply lower the AA as more than 2xFXAA is basically not needed for this display due to the great PPI ratio. Netflix is a mixed bag - some content does support 21:9, other doesn't. You can use plugins to stretch or crop, but I personally simply prefer the black bars. Movies on the other hand - wow. I have a big-screen TV in the other room, but still find myself watching movies directly from the computer as it looks so good when they fill up the entire screen. :D

@@kallestofeles Thank you for sharing your thoughts about the monitor, I would enjoy playing Battlefield 5 and Forza Horizon 4 on it. I've owned a 1070 and played 144hz 1080p, sold it for a 2080, but the GPU didn't support my monitor from DVI cause only had HDMI and Displayport. My BenQ didn't had the right DisplayPort, so RIP 144hz. Had to sell my monitor and then save money for a new one. One thing, which bothers me is that these ultrawide monitors look hard to carry with their packaging, especially when we don't have elevators. Also I would find it hard putting the package in a car. I assume watching Netflix on it is a great experience. Keeping in mind how tech evolves so fast, I'll have to upgrade my setup after 2/3 years if I want to play more than 60hz on a 2K. It's been quite a discussion, but how much PC parts cost in your country? In Bulgaria, a 2080 ROG Strix costs around 1000 eur. The i5-9600k is almost 300 eur. The older generation GPUs and CPUs are the same price, they don't lower them, so there is a great monopoly basically. Next time I'll hopefully order from Germany.

It could always be better, but for an ultrawide, I am really impressed with it. The VA panel does its thing reasonably well and the backlight bleeding/batman logo is noticeable in a very dark room, but I put ambient LED's behind the monitor to smoothen the bleed out and now it is pretty amazing - by far the best colors on a monitor I have seen and with great blacks. I would not go back to IPS displays after this. 100Hz is a really sweet treat as well. There also is a bit ghosting happening when moving gray images on gray backgrounds - it looks kind of like a built-in motion blur which doesn't suck. :D No biggie, but it is there and noticeable from time to time - but not when playing colorful fps games like doom - this is where the monitor really shines - the immersion is bloody great. It is awkward at first that the monitor height is not as tall as a 32" 16:9 monitor, but when you start gaming on it with a game which supports 21:9, then you will forget about the height and start loving the extra width... also racing games are AMAZING! :D So all in all, it is worth the hype in my opinion and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have! :) PS! You will need a beefy gpu though - I first tested the monitor on a 1070 and was fairly disappointed as I love my games all maxed out 60+fps... the 3440x1440 resolution absolutely annihilates most low to mid range gpus. A 1080 should kind of be the minimum for a good experience. Though it depends on the games as well - doom 2016 ran at 100fps no problem (with a few dips here and there) with the resolution and a 1070.
