Feral Interactive has done it again! Amazing work! Rise of the Tomb Raider is finally out on Linux, and it performs like a boss on a mid-range PC!

For Ubuntu 17.10+
nVidia Driver PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

Vulkan install:
sudo apt-get install libvulkan1


From Feral's Docs:
If you wish to manually set your CPU frequency scaling governor mode, please follow the instructions below.

    From your desktop, open the Terminal application.
    In Terminal, enter the following line of code: 

echo performance | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor 

Press the Return key.
    
You will be prompted to enter your password. Enter your password, then press the Return key.
    
Your power settings will now be set to "High Performance" mode. Close the Terminal application.

If you wish to change your settings back to "Power Save" mode, simply follow the instructions above and enter the following line of code: 

echo powersave | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor

Does manually installing Vulkan actually do anything at all? I didn't have it installed when I played this for the first time, and it seems to run exactly the same after installation. It runs great, but I'm wondering if I'm not activating something that should be activated, or something.

It'll run under OpenGL if you don't have Vulkan drivers installed. But Vulkan should give you a noticeable edge over OpenGL.

I think Feral also did the Company of Heroes 2 Steam port for Linux. If anyone is looking for a good strategy game with a perfect Linux port. PS: +1 vote for NIER: Automata on Linux. Would love that.

Bought it, however I think the performance is low on my Gtx970 jumping from 80-30 fps ( Ryzen 5 @4GHZ, 16 gigs of ram and a GTX 970) running this at ( high settings ) the animation also slows down when the frame rate drops, and its all over the place, like 30 fps,45,67,55,37,89 and so on :/

Yeah now I can enjoy the game, and more experimenting have been done, just a few OS tweaks can really influence the performance, but that is why I use Linux I guess, love a challenge and to get the OS to do what I want not when a company wants. @@Kyjorei

No problem, I like the game now, strange thing is I switched from Gnome 3 back to cinnamon, and the frame rate gotta hefty bump, my frame rate became stable at about 55-60 fps and has highs of over 100 fps and lows of about 45, I do not know why, but this game runs flawlessly under cinnamon, I switched to performance mode and saw a very nice bump, same is if I test cinebench, I get something like 850 points in vs 810-20 points in Gnome, very strange. @@Kyjorei
