I also tile my windows on Xfce to maximize my laptop’s resolution. :) I also remove my window borders for that same reason

LOL. most desktops can tile windows, but this certainly isn’t a tiling window manager.

Yeah. This is window snapping, not tiling. Tiling WMs don't require user interaction to tile...

Found out about Regolith a week or so ago. I'm running it on top of Ubuntu 18.04 also. Then I found Erik Dubois' implementation of i3 in Mint, so I installed that, and I'm running it. The colour scheme in Regolith lacks contrast out of the box, but in i3 Mint everything is easy on the eyes. I have Mate and xcfe also installed, so I'll give it a go next time I feel like rebooting.

throw x-tile into the mix, if feeling adventurous it is easy to switch xfce window manager for awesomewm, might require solving some keyboard conflicts between the two, cheers.

strange, but your video fits my screen differently than most other videos. Occasionally, I have noticed this with a few other videos. Yours won't span to each side of the screen unless fully maximized.

I like dwm, unfortunately I'm a little lazy to configure it, that's why I don't use dwm right now, but if one day, a special version of it be available to be ready to go, then I think there is nothing better than dwm.

Just watched part 2 and came here to see if I had missed something about tiling and noticed what seems to be your browser start page. Is this html5 + your coding skills? I have added my most used web links to my Xfce hidden side panel launcher (and to the menu) but I was thinking of doing something similar. But due to the lack of coding skills (and also probably due to some kind of overdeveloped laziness skill) never tried...

stock..default..cinnamon's tiling is much better. can do super key+ left and then up to move it to upper left corner...super key + right and up to move it to upper right..but can't do that in xfce. that I am aware of which sucks.
But I just though of something given what I saw in this video. super key + numpad numbers 7, 9, 4, 6, 1, and 3 for upper left, upper right, left half, right half, lower left and lower right ( facepalm). eeeugh

Two Thumbs Up Video! I've been using xfce4 years on my Gentoo and Arch Linux system builds. Excellent tips on xfce4! And I like tiling window managers, but my wife needs the point and click device called a mouse. Desktop xfce4 uses very little memory but with computers today, my builds have 64 GB DDR4 and more capability, I have one build with 128GB people fight for a few 100 megabytes ram? Pretty soon because of the new hardware capability you'll be running any operating systems like Linux, Windows and FreeBSD via VM virtual machines directly off a servers network on to your machine. The Nvidia Tesla M10 Graphic cards have been around a long while, but very few people realize these cards DO NOT have any video outputs like (display ports, hdmi), price tag is high for these cards. ---> Nice video! :)

If you want easier to remember shortcuts, use the keypad.
Meta+9 = top right
Meta+8 = top
Meta+7 = top left
Ald so on.
It's more intuitive in my opinion.

Those WM you mentioned are NOT TILING manager-- they require keybanging bullshit-- and that is NOT Tiling...th'tas MOVING..... AUTO TILING is like POP OS-- or Bismuth for kde-- and there NEEDS to be something for XFCE that does the same thing... this key crap is NOT tiling..

This video was meant as a joke/tease. This is window snapping (hence the title including the word "snapping.") If you want Tiling on XFCE, I have a video on how to do that here:
https://youtu.be/rnZm3g_rbwM
Hope it helps.

I think people are missing the joke here... At the time, this was meant to just be silly fun with XFCE. I've been using XFCE + i3WM not too long after this video. If you'd like to learn how to install i3wm on XFCE, I created a guide not too long after this video was released.
You can find those instructions here: https://youtu.be/rnZm3g_rbwM
For those who got the joke, I hope you got a good laugh.
For those who were upset by this, I am genuinely sorry. It was not my intention to mislead or frustrate anyone. I hope that the guide linked here will ease your burdens.
Give thanks. 🙏🏿
