Thanks man, your video was extremely helpful. I worked through the three alternatives - OpenDNS, Pluckeye and Bad Hosts to block adult content in the internet. I had been desperately searching for a reliable porn blocking app in Linux for quite some time. My efforts have been mostly in vain, until today when I stumbled across this video.
OpenDNS worked fairly well to block phishing sites, but left popular porn sites unharmed. A casual search revealed that these sites were still showing up in my browser. This left me dissapointed. Next, I experimented with Pluckeye. In sharp contrast to OpenDNS, it blocked almost all web pages that I tried to open. I tinkered with its settings and other features, but was dissatisfied with its performance. The app was too strict and its UI not quite friendly. Finally, I tried Bad Hosts File and.... Voila! It works magically. It is the perfect tool I was looking for. Not only does it block the popular adult sites, but also keeps other clean sites unaffected. Now, I can safely browse all sites without accidentally opening up porn sites. Awesome tutorial, you deserve more views and likes. :)
