What if I installed Mesa 11(with OpenGL 4.2 support)? Would that work with that?

Xpander69 I will try. I don't want to use proprietary drivers anymore since the open-source ones work so well with my AMD card. :)

Use ffmpeg with nvenc encoder to record gameplay videos.

+Xpander69 SSR dev added nvenc support for vanilla SSR just few days ago. You should try to use version from git.

Yuri Shishenko i actually did compile from git and recompiled SSR with includes but probably messed something up because it wasnt showing... recording audio and video separately is too much work for later editing and also syncing it properly because it still might go out of sync when recording drops few frames here and there

Xpander69 record video and audio separately, then. Unlike x264, nvenc is not an external encoder so it cannot be used in other apps. If you want to use nvenc in SSR, you should get ffmpeg_libnvenc from git repo, compile it and then recompile SSR with includes from it.

Yuri Shishenko ffmpeg has audio video sync issues for me and somehow nvenc doesnt want to show up in SSR after compiling ffmpeg with nvenc support and ssr also pointed to correct library... have to dig around more and hopefully get it working

Screen recording consume much resources even in your machine (very good ram quantity, very good card and acceptable cpu)
In my case works ffmpeg with sound but is needed enable nvenc and check stay enable libpulse
In this video test with ffmpeg 2.72 and nvenc sdk 501 and works good (however sound recording reduce much performance in my machine around 40 to 50% of fps performance)

However nvenc dont have same quality of simplescreen recorder but shows more closer idea about machine performance

Configure recorder to record raw audio. That will be much less CPU intense.

Man, you gotta get your hands on an external recorder like the Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket. That's what I use for all my recordings. 0% frame rate decrease.
