yo, does linux run this game better? I get 100fps with my 1440p setup (RTX 4080 / 32GB RAM / Ryzen 7700x)
DOES WINDOWS SUCK?

@@CorneliusCornbread yeah i already added pinned message about that. it feels the same anyway.. Steam Overlay reports fps correctly. Mangohud just goes crazy and reports 2x fps with it

the performance numbers are skewed due to vsync being enabled in this video. the vsync causes some weird behaviour with measured FPS and actual rendered FPS. My 6900xt with a mix of medium and high settings gets about 70 to 80fps at 2k native resolution

Going from Windows to arch hyprland, I get about 10fps less on Linux, but the perceived fps feels ridiculously low, even though it shows 50 it feels like 15... I feel this could be an issue with either my Nvidia card on Wayland, or hyprland not supporting gaming that well. Just my experience

I honestly have no idea. Haven't used windows since 2007. I would think that you lose about ~10% on linux with the translation layer, but then again i guess it can depend on the OS background stuff and other bloat also. This game likes CPU also.

is PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command% meant to be put in the launch options for sons of the forest?

NOTE! I think the vsync thing is false alarm. It's still the same , but just mangohud shows more fps. Needs more testing
edit: Yeah Mangohud seems to show 2x FPS with that vsync option. While actually it still runs the same as without.

It seems to be a frame smoothing thing, where the vsync option is a some factor of your monitor's refresh rate. For example I have the options 144, 72, and 48hz. that being 1:1, 1:2, 1:3. Basically meaning it will smooth 1 frame into 2 frames to produce 144hz, or 1 frame into 3 frames to produce 144hz.
