I am asking beacuse Manjaro ( based on Arch Linux) with nvidia properiaty drivers based on XFCE consuming 620mb.This is not normal for me.Without drivers consumes 330mb.This very strange for me

+Oczkins92 like i said, all those programs are on my startup. but i have a laptop with archlinux and same mate desktop. it uses 380MB of ram right after boot if that helps u. distro shouldnt matter for ram usage, unless there are lits if useless services running. desktop environment is what makes the difference

its hard to say because i always have my 30+ tab vivaldi browser, thunderbird, discord, conky, audacious, pidgin, steam, qjackctl, simplescreenrecorder and hexchat running. after reboot when all those programs open at startup i see 1,2GB usage, but it will grow over time, linux is pretty good at using buffers and cache, so more it uses faster it is ..
