there is glxosd and mumble-overlay to show fps in games..but it doesnt work with any game.. and i dont use it on games which are running without fps problems anyway... like said there is no fraps on linux

good question.. i havent played neither of those so i cant compare. if i have to sum it up, i'd say its has pretty simplistic control over your ship, no micro management and stuff like that, but it gets pretty intense at times when lots of ships coming at you, cause your direct interaction is pretty much needed due to dumb A.I. when your fleet is autocontrolled. Sadly i didn't see multiplayer, thats a big minus.
