Its a vulkan extension. Nothing to do with esync/fsync. Not nvidia exclusive either. Amd support is in the works by mesa devs

From my testing yes. Though some UE4 games are a bit special case and still have few stutters here and there, but not as much as before. For those games you can modify the engine.ini file to do the preloading in the menus: To enable compiling of shaders in pre game menu or during loading screens together with the GPL extension in UE4 games: In Engine.ini Default located at C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\GAMENAME\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\ Add [/script/engine.renderersettings] r.CreateShadersOnLoad=1 niagara.CreateShadersOnLoad=1

this doesn't give any benefit to me. i can force my CPU to performance mode without gamemoderun also. But from my testing schedutil which is my default is performing as good as forcing it to performance for the majority of games i play.

launch options aren't needed. those are specific for apex legends, yes. preload just helps to build the map shaders ahead of time

Currently yes. Since july with the vulkan dev drivers and since october with the latest stable drivers. Amd support is in progress, theres experimental support for it now with few patches needed afaik and some launch parameters.

Yes, still smooth. As for AMD support, i think the plan was to get it into mesa 22.3, but im note sure. Anyway Apex Legends now also has DX12 mode which maybe makes it better on AMD even without graphics pipeline library as i heard its precompiling some shaders in advance by default. To try it i think its -eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX12.json and you can include -preload also just in case

@@xpander69 makes sence had a feeling too, it seems to prompt the compiling shaders when the game starts in my testing, i also am gpu bound now so i guess at that point gpu just gets gpu bound, in conclusion now it feels games really run as they should. Thanks for clarifying.

@@asunavk69i have no idea if dxvk-async even supports gpl. its unofficial hack anyway. I would just use the normal dxvk. dxvk 2.0 and up support gpl.

if you have GPU drivers 520+ and using proton 8 or experimental then its enabled by default. if you want to see it in action then DXVK_HUD=compiler %command% into steam launch options for the game and you should see compiling on the left bottom of the screen when its pre-caching the shaders in the menus

@@VrashabhSontakke No. You don't really need that. Drivers that support graphics pipeline library will do all the pre-compiling in the game menu. So the steam's own pre caching isn't really needed.

DXVK_ASYNC isnt even in official proton versions. Its a hacky unofficial DXVK build that uses async. I wouldnt use that on any multiplayer games as it can lead to rendering issues due to nature of this hack. There is absolutely zero stutters with the nvidia drivers 525 and up and proton 8 or experimental. The pre-compiling happens during main menu, loading screens.
