Hey, this game seems pretty nice, and runs well too (despite the occasional stutter) Btw, would you recommend the wrc series too ?

Also the stutter in the video seems to be caused by OBS or the fact that for some reason i didnt notice that i have vsync on. Actually didn't see any stutter ingame and seen from the mangohud there are only minor frametime spikes like up to 1ms or so

Its pretty good when it comes to handling. Comparing with Dirt Rally2.0 its pretty close to the car handling, except WRC seems to be a bit better on the tarmac, specially when there are slippery patches, it gives more feedback. On gravel i think its a bit worse than DR2.0. Roads namely doesnt seem to be affected by the tracks of the previous cars in this game, but its still good. Car sounds are better in DR2.0. I like the stages more in WRC games, feel more real life like and have nice sharp textures, however lighting seems to be a bit better on DR2.0. Overall i would say WRC 10 is pretty solid competitor to DR2.0 and it has official teams and drivers, so thats a huge bonus.

Handbreak isn't self-made. Bought it from AliExpress iirc :D some Arduino stuff, but its all metal build and since it registers the handbreak as axis 8, it doesnt get detected by proton/wine. Proton only goes up to 5 axis iirc. So i had to use AntiMicroX to bind it. But it works good. Gravel is pretty close to DR2. Forcefeedback imo gives better feeling of ditches etc than in DR2. Tarmac is way better than DR2 imo. Snow is worse than DR2, too much grip imo. Both are pretty close overall imo.

Hello, asking out of curiosity. I have preordered a steam deck and wanted to know if you had some advices for games like xpand rally or stuff depanding on game for windows live. I'm anxious to run old games on the go, but i worry about the issue i already had with both on windows getting worse on linux.

games for windows live can be patched/replaced with xliveless afaik. At least i remember it being a thing for the few games that ised games for windows live. I'm not sure about xpand rally though. I don't really play arcade rally games since colin mcrae 2.0 :D . Your best bet is to use Lutris for games that are not on Steam. Most old games imo work way better on Linux than they do on modern windows versions. But yeah there might be few that don't work at all.. Hard to say. I have all the WRC series, and they all work on Ubuntu 20.04, but none of them recognize controller input for some reason. Did you need to do anything special to get the controller working? or it just worked out of the box in your case?

I only play with a wheel, so no idea about controller support, but what i can read from protondb it seems some sort of xinput issue with some controllers.

Haven't had time to play it in few weeks, but played it on 6th of january 2023 with proton-experimental with no issues. So yeah it should work i think, unless some regressions have happened during that time.
