Hey, i'm on Arch with Gnome 3 and your AppDB entry is probably solely responsible for me being able to run this. Wouldn't have found the DX/VCrun tip without it (it won't work unless it's set to XP). But you mentioned padsp for audio issues? How would you do that? Because my audio works, but i get weird issues with the pipboy radio not working for music, but working for voice, and there being a really harsh transition between left and right speakers when walking past somebody who's talking. Q.

@SepradistPhantom that padsp thingy is old tho. not in the works anymore i think
otherwise u can try to put it before u start ur program in wine. like: padsp wine "/location/to/ur/program.exe"
but i doubt it works now a days. the best is to do killall pulseaudio in terminal if u start up the game (make sure u dont have other audio apps playing at that time)

@Xpander666 Hmm, thanks. I think it might be a 'problem' with the way my sound card is set up though, not with how Wine's handling it. Seems some people are getting similar problems with realtek chips on Windows - only 'solution' i've found is related to a "speaker fill" option. Maybe related to a "don't know what to do with 1000 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels" error message i see for various apps in terminal. I'll look more into it in the morning given that it's 3AM :p

@SepradistPhantom i have realtek chip as well (ALC889) and my terminal has the same message as yours. one thing i have noticed. when u have simultaneous output enabled for pulseaudio, then the sound cracks and cuts. also might be worth to check into /etc/pulse/daemon.conf :
default-fragments = 8
default-fragment-size-msec = 500
thats what i have set, was 8 and 10 by default i think. this helps to reduce the sound cracking and cutting out for me at least.

Can you minimize or switch window while playing? For me the New Vegas window magically disappears when I do that (but still running).

@sebbeks didnt really test it. because im used to use workspaces. i launch game on different workspace and then use my other apps on different one. or now with gnome3 i can hit the superkey to switch between apps. if ur window dissapears when u minimize, u might want to try running it in virtual destop, found in winecfg configs.

@sebbeks from fullscreen u can switch out with ctrl+alt+ arrow keys to switch workspaces or in gnome3 u can use superkey. if u use compiz u might find some other combinations like alt+f9 and alt+ctrl+d or so.

@Xpander666 I ran it in both XFCE and KDE and the window disappears if it is not highlighted. It is like the window manager "loses" the window. However if I launch Steam (or FalloutNV.exe with Steam turned off at launch) with the virtual desktop enabled I can switch windows.
