https://store.steampowered.com/app/412020/Metro_Exodus/The year is 2036.A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro. They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war.But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East.Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.Explore the Russian wilderness across vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.Inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Exodus continues Artyoms story in the greatest Metro adventure yet.Config file location:~/.local/share/Steam/userdata/xxxxxxxxxxx/412020/remote/user.cfgNOTE! this game has vertical FoV, so 70 on my 16:9 is ~102 of horizontal FoVhttp://themetalmuncher.github.io/fov-calc----Mastodon: https://mastodon.social/users/xpander69Twitter: https://twitter.com/Xpander69Website: http://warlords.planet.ee----Recorded with:OBS (nvenc 1440p60, CQP 17, Preset Max Quality)Edited with: kdenlive (x264/mp4, 1440p60, Quality 15/Audio 192kbps)Intro: by user colonelkoikSystem Specs:Processor:AMD Ryzen 7 3700XMemory:32 GB DDR4 3200Video Card:Zotac 1080Ti AMP ExtremeSound Card:Focusrite Scarlett 2i2Motherboard:Asus Prime X370 ProMonitors: Gigabyte M27Q 1440p 170hz 27" + AOC AG 271QX 1440p 144hz 27"Operating System:Arch Linux 64bitKernel: 5.11-tkg-upds (futex2)Filesystem: ext4Nvidia drivers: 465.24.02Desktop Environment: MATE 1.24

For Compatibility I chose Steam Linux Runtime. It initially downloaded a 100MB+ update (was running in Proton), but then wouldn't launch, I uninstalled it and am reinstalling now. Hope it works! Running Manjaro with 5700XT. EDIT: _RUNS WONDERFULLY!!!_

i'm amazed by the performance. i knew that it would perform well because of vulkan, but i thought that it might be a bit much for my rx 570. seeing that a 1080 ti can put out 100+ fps on ultra (at least in this level) makes me think that getting around 60 fps on somewhat lower settings in 2560x1440 might not be too far fetched. i wanna play through 2033 and last light first before i dive into this one, but i'm kinda hyped (granted that mesa hopefully works by then) :D

@@xpander69 the redux games had an option where you could set the 3d-resolution to a higher or lower resolution compared to the window itself. so 3d would be rendered in 720p for example and then upscaled to 1440p, and the ui is rendered normally at 1440p, so you get almost the same performance as when playing in 720p but you get a crisp 1440p ui. however, it seems this option isn't present in the linux port unfortunately :(

@@frederikholfeld868 i have no idea about it, but the resolution scales with the screen just fine, didnt check if UI is different.

@@xpander69 yeah, the open world is probably more demanding. they put resolution scaling back in i assume, so that would make running it at 1920x1080, or whatever the result of the available values would be, more feasible because the ui is still native 2560x1440. what would be amazing though is if the vulkan multi-gpu extension was functional to a degree so that i could slap my rx 390 in the pc and get some crazy performance boost from that. but i assume the linux port doesn't provide that :D

there are some areas (more open areas) where fps drops down to 60, but its its quite rare.. mostly its around 90 fps.. and its 1440p. i think RX570 can handle this game 60+ at high and 1080p

I would like to see RTX and DLSS working under Linux, but here you don't have one of those cards?

@@PRiMETECHAU hmm yeah.. i did some digging and found nvidia reply The driver supports DLSS and NGX Features via the NGX component starting with release series 450. However DLSS and NGX Feature support may differ between versions as these aren’t driver components, so it’s best to check in support audiences for those specific components. With that in mind having worked on the implementation I know that: DLSS has support for Linux with DLSS 2.0 and above. DLSS versions prior to 2.0 are not supported on Linux.

RT works, just with my pascal GPU the perf is not there, obviously. With turing and ampere i think you can get decent experience with it. DLSS is not supported on linux afaik.

Thx for the video. I think I will wait, until they fix issues. And test more with both Mesa radv and AMDVLK. I am also not a fan of their EULA either.

minimum requirement is Ubuntu 20, so no, it wont work probably due to outdated kernel/drivers/libraries

There seems to be a mem leak with the game for some people. I did not experience that myself during my 3h (and 2x 2h sessions) of playing though . So it might depend on many factors... just a warning. edit: Seems theres a confirmation that mem allocation leak happens with RADV, but not with AMDVLK.
