I noticed that turning off things like bloom created so many rendering bugs that I do not dare to turn anything off... Just waiting for the vulkan version :-).

indeed :D it can be turned down somewhat by disabling light shafts and bloom but yeah still lots of those weird glitches..

Besides these bugs (I do not have windows, so I don't even know how it looks without), I have paid for the DLC too, and I think it's well worth it. Assuming that they are going to deliver a vulkan version with less rendering bugs. I love this game.... I switch between Ark and Fortresscraft and Saints Row... despite having a few AAA titles on my shelf...

Yeah.. Still enjoying the game though, those glitches do not happen that often, some areas of the map cause those issues a lot faster, some areas are perfectly fine. I'm not going to comment on the payed DLC situation much. While its not nice to have a payed dlc for early access game, i admit that this dlc at least has shitloads of content, compared to all those triple A games that sell dlcs with no content and pre-order crap and their games should be early access also for few months after release.

Its because you havent ventured too far from your base :) , those things happen with region changes mostly. near swamps and waterfalls most commonly :)

i have over 290 hours :D its still playable, light shafts and bloom off reduces quite a bit of those and staying away from swamps or near waterfalls reduces those also :D

I'm running the Mac version, which is also OpenGL, but it's nowhere near as bad as this. I'm running with Nvidia 367.15.10.35f01 drivers on macOS with a GTX 980. Are you running with recent Nvidia drivers or some open source ones? Then that might be part of the problem. 350 hours into the game. The Mac version is essentially the same as the Linux version as far as the unreal engine goes I think. (sure a .so is called a .dylib). I write, compile and run scientific software on both Linux and Mac for a living, although I have little experience with the unreal engine itself, more with Unity, Qt, Athena and GTK.

Who would run opensource drivers on a GTX1070.. no its not that.. its been there since the launch of the game, the same glitches, no matter what drivers. you can have less glitches if you disable bloom and light shafts, you also reduce those when you don't travel near swamps or waterfalls that often.

I'm betting a lot of these graphics issues are related to open source graphics drivers, rather than the game it's self. I kind of don't blame SWC for not working on fixing issues related to non-gaming platforms. They seriously just should have never released a linux client.

So the other 4.95 million players should be de-prioritised so that SWC can spend an inordinate amount of time trying to optimise their game to work on a platform that can have a myriad of configurations of software? BTW, 1% was just a guess, I'm betting the number is more than likely a lot less than that, but I prefer to err on the side of caution.

in addition: they sold over 5 milion copies of this game on steam, which means if 1% of them were linux users there are 51000 linux players. lets say 15€ per game, it was 10€ and it has been 20€ so we take the average. So they got 765000€ from us.. ok there were taxes and stuff also, but that should be enough money made from linux users to fix the damn issues

that less than 1% is still more than 1 million players. They use UE4 engine which supports linux (not the best linux support though), but the problem is that they modified the engine heavily and are still stuck with older engine revisions. Newer UE4 versions perform much better on linux and don't have those graphical issues. And as you said, Since they bothered with the support of Linux platform, they should also provide the feature parity. Heck they don't even fix the graphical issues on the Windows client (alltho there are way less of those there). They are just pushing out new dinosaurs without fixing the core problems first.

Eh, not really, I think there's maybe less than 1% of the gaming world that games on linux platforms. It's unfortunate, but like I said, they should never have bothered with a linux client in the first place, too much of a time investment for such a tiny part of the community. It's bad enough they have to placate all the people playing with under powered PCs in the windows gaming community. They don't need more unneeded distractions.

no. i dont use open source graphics drivers. i use nvidia drivers and no other game has those issues and those graphical bugs have been here 2 years since the early access release. they have 1 month to fix it. The game will be released on 8th of the August.. so if the linux client remains like that after release... there will be some negative review overflow

800 hours on record, running on a 550ti/8GB RAM at that time, until the memory leak became worse and I couldn't play anymore. Lost the count of how many times I died because of the black rain bug. A slightly better card (1050ti) now, but the memory leak didn't allowed me to get back to play. :(

On nvidia, some of those glitches are fixed now, but there still are those sparkles that come from water or snow. Best is to play this game with proton and -sm4 switch, no graphical glitches, better visuals, better performance, directional audio etc compared to native, but you will loose the ability to play on BattlEye servers then
