there is Lutris installer also: https://lutris.net/games/warhammer-online-return-to-reckoning/ - it could use some updates(will try to ask the devs to update it), but it should still work.

It is. All you really need is to install dotnet40 and d3dx9_34 via winetricks. It will work then, but ground textures a bit bright. still playable. the sRGB patch to fix ground textures should be fixed in the next development version of wine or if we are lucky maybe even with the next 5.0 rc version

in this case it wasn't too laggy, if you check the video there are fps drops ofc, but it wasnt 150vs150 lagfest, it was more like 50 vs 50 which is not that laggy. usually fps is at 100 fps engine capped, if you have 6vs6 or so, but in action like this it drops down to 40 at times or even 30. In order to extract more performance you need WINEDEBUG=-all to not spam the console and FSYNC or ESYNC also enabled. Also just allow spelleffects for the party, not the entire warband, which causes huge lags.

Fudge my previous comment got lost.. anyway if you are using Lutris then WINEDEBUG=-all is enabled by default and WINEESYNC can be enabled via configurations. If you are using scripts then export WINEDEBUG=-all export WINEESYNC=1 wine ./RoRLauncher.exe should do the trick

WINEDEBUG=-all and WINEESYNC=1 helps quite a lot with the perf. Also ingame change the spell effects to party only, not entire warband.. It will still run poorly if there are like 200+ people fighting on the same screen, no matter what hardware or OS you throw at it.. Old game engine flaw

Ohh yeah. So much potential, but rushed out in unfinished state to get it launch before WoW expansion was the real problem. EA ofc. And when it didnt go to plan, then they just left it run with a skeleton team to just die, because they had payed for the license to GamesWorkshop....what a waste really.. Luckily that Private server seems more polished than this game ever was, at least balance wise.

@@GamesJoblin ohh i refused to go mSH also because it didn't seem right, but im happy to report its a lot of fun. Btw the ranged mode isn't that bad either anymore (they fixed arrow travel time issues), just needs more gear a bit to be usable.

@@xpander69 Yeah I checked your MSh video earlier, I know that melee is in good spot now (at least based on a quick glance at forums, I'm not playing at the moment but I saw people complaining about mSH); I never enjoyed that playstyle tho. In general I often play what I find more intuitive or just fun!
