need some hacks to get it natively working:
1) download https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28788188/7dtd_client_linux_unity45.tar.gz
2) Start your Steam in Wine to download 7 days to die for Windows
3) Copy the windows 7 Days to Die folder to your Native Steam
4) Extract Downloaded file ( from point 1) to 7 Days to Die folder in Native Steam.
5) Copy-Paste SteamworksManaged.dll from ~/install/32Bit/ to ~/7DaysToDie_Data/Managed/

Game has huge issues with mouse like many unity3d games prior to version 4.5.
