i have no idea...might be osx specific idea. i was able to choose rewards without problems. havent played the game lately tho, maybe something changed in the game code with latest patches that causes it. might be worth to run the game from terminal and see if theres any weird output when it does freeze and then report to winehq.org

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04. I followed the recommended steps and successfully installed the game on Wine. However, when I press play, it gives me "Error 5" -__-

check it from terminal.. i mean start the game from terminal to see whats really messing up. also go to winehq page an check the bugreports. might be u are affected with 1. havent tested the game lately anymore..maybe some update has broken it.

I know this is irrelevant, but do you think Linux Mint 13 is more reliable than Ubuntu 12.04?

Linux Mint is almost always more reliable than Ubuntu, even to this day.

good question:). they both have the same base, so it should be the same. just desktop environments are different. cannot comment on ubuntus unity since i havent tryed the latest versions. but i can say that MATE desktop in mint 13 is damn rock solid stable.

I'm using ubuntu 12.04 too, and it still can't work properly :( wine ver. 1.5.13, Intel HD 3000 Graphics, the same winetricks. after downloads verification the game starts, but it freezes on loading screen. and there's few strange details: there's no "Need For Speed World" label on this screen, and there's no "loading circle" on the screen. just a word "loading" and something about I should always use a seatbelt etc. :) what it could be? will be really grateful, if you answer me

its probably ur intel hd 30000 graphics card. its not really meant for gaming. and the state of the drivers on linux aint that great either for gaming.

I don't think so :) it's work perfect with many other games, I can play 2010's Hot Pursuit, for example. there's issue in something else

It works just fine on ubuntu with wine 1.6~rc4 but as seen in this video as in myself in game , the car stearing is wierd ,goes way too fast in stearing felt or right . Played it in windows and it's not the same gameplay . SO i recomend windows all the way for this game .
