On old hardware does it make sense to put RoR on Linux to increase FPS?

No idea. Maybe, Maybe not. Just on Linux theres a directx9 to opengl translation also, though it uses another cpu core, so it really shouldnt be a problem on 4 core + cpu, but with dualcore you might struggle on linux because of that. That being said it seems this game has more issues on a modern windows OS (10) than on linux

i got wine downloaded and everything not understanding when you show to install lutris because i can't get the client to dl do i need to register with lutes?

Depends what distro you are running, the installation commands/instructions are on the Lutris download page for the distro you using. after that is installed i guess you might need to relog or restart your system so the browser links can open lutris for you

@@huseyinfahriuzun2216 you have some really odd issues that i never heard of before. i tested the game on multiple machines without issues.. try switching to wine 5.0 in Lutris. I never tested it with proton.

@@xpander69 i managed to fix that by using proton but this time i can't see tooltips for spells, abilities, backpack items but character tooltips are working.

Oh never mind it doesn't work. Looking at the source on the site it seem it wan't Ubuntu 18 kernal or newer. I still use the ubuntu 16 LTS through Linux Mint until support ends next year, for stability reasons.

4th gen is 4000 series cpus? you can. just not with DXVK. i have a i5 4004U laptop and it works there. performance isn't great though, but thats because this cpu is just 1.8ghz

Why is it Verufying files every time i launch it,when its finished connect button is timmed out and gray lol, how do i fix this?

@@kostax90 thats a drastic measure. just reinstall the game with lutris if the repair doesnt work. but anyway yeah i havent heard anyone else with this issue on linux.

@@kostax90 on linux you dont need the read-only check.. just close your torrent program and its all ready, unless you installed it to some drive with weird permissions.

Hmm never had this myself. Try the launcher repair option maybe? something must be broken on your installation

Hi. I tried to install the game as described in the video. Im using ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I cant install the game with user permission, i have to run lutris with root, but the main issue comes when the files are getting copied to the destination. It does not go further at that point even if every file was copied already. Any suggestion?

@@xpander69 As i promised. I fought with a lot more issue so I was better to reinstall my whole system (it was already required tbh). Everything was super smooth for the first time on the fresh install. See you in the game!

@@xpander69 I debugged it and checked system logs. Found out this just before you wrote this i have the exact same problem. It tries to open the downloaded files from the folder with in the dosdevices/drive ...etc, constant loop. Now im downloading the files again. Thanks for the awesome support! Going to update on this.

@@patrikhajnal5708 this is not normal. Are you using some weirdly formated drive? Everything with lutris works without root permissions. And copying the files as well. Well enable lutris debug info to see whats going on during the copy. Remember dont set the prefix into the dame folder where the torrent files are. Treat the torrent as install medium. Otherwise it will be in constant loop if prefix is inside the install files

@@xpander69 When its not root, it throw Permission 13 error but my user owns those folders, i set permission on that folder to +wr to others as well, but it did not help. I can play with other games on lutris without this permission problem, it only occurs with RoR.

Don't ever run Lutris with root account, it will mess everything up. If you can't run lutris with your normal user, you should start looking for whats the problem with that. I guess since you ran it with root it allready messed up everything cause it didnt create the prefix into your user folder and copying stuff went weird also. I would first wipe all the lutris and try to see whats wrong with your system permissions, before attempting again.

NOTE! Make sure you install wine for your your distro first (apt install wine ) - for Lutris to work correctly - Do Not switch to 64bit from the launcher. It has uncapped fps and breaks animations.
