@MessereBaffo have u heard about freedom of choice? :) ..i dont like windows and i dont use it..simple as that. i know i could play all games max or what ever..but i bought this harware with linux in mind, to be able to play on it decently.

@Xpander666 I know exactly what you mean. I have a sager np8130 i7, 8gb ram, gtx 560m etc etc. so that I can play games better in wine and natively in linux. Just because you have great hardware doesn't mean you need to run an inferior OS.

@wingnux winetricks xact also before u start the game try killall pulseaudio and then run game with padsp parameter. or alternatively u can try wine 1.3.24 with pulseaudio, there was ppa for it c-korn ppa i think or something. i dont have audio issues when wine is in xp mode. tho many people report that theirs work only when in windows 7 mode.

@cgolson84 yeah but not everybody like to buy windows because of few games that doesnt work under wine or performing bad. Also dual boot is kind of pointless imo. Dont want to turn this into OS war... everybody is using what they like to use, i just dont like the limitations that windows has.

@rock3tcat in this video i had old drivers from mint repo sudo apt-get install nvidia-current that is. to use latest non-beta drivers u can add repo: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install nvidia-current

@heyo825 why gentoo, it has kde? i myself dislike kde. + i like ppa repositories, apt package management, lots of tutorials that are available for Ubuntu(Linux Mint) in the internet for specific tweaks etc. Its all matter of choice... there are many different distros - people will use what they like or need.

@EFDos unfortunately thats the sad state of ATI/AMD drivers under linux. they just lack the features and performance or arent compatible with wine. if u want some gaming experience under linux then i suggest nvidia card. while amd drivers in general are fine for native games, they are really bad when it comes to wine gaming.

i think the same level as linux mint. cuz linux mint is based on ubuntu. just the desktop environment is different
