It has native builds also, but i really couldnt bother with that. was just easier to install and play with heroic

I was a massive UT player all through 99->04 versions. But they lost me by the time UT3 came out and this I can't explain it, but there is something off about this version of UT.. Even though it was supposedly made with help from the community to be more like the best versions of UT, the weapons, animations etc all feel wrong to me.

I played a lot 99 and 2003 also, a bit 2004 as well. UT3 was kinda meh. Considering its been 15+ years from an actual good UT game, this isn't that bad honestly, but yeah sadly development has stopped.. theres UT4UU project though. which i'm planning to investigate a bit.

You mean the native linux client? you have to build from UE4 iirc. All the old pre-built links seem to have vanished. You can still freely download it (windows version) from EGS though if you had it there.

This game could have been the saviour of shooters ... but instead Epic Games decided that ripping off kids is the main thing they really want to do. -.-  Such a shame. It looks great even today and it ran like greased lightning even back in 2015. ... I hate what has become of that company so much. 😕

That is true, but theres UT4UU project that is community driven and trying to keep this game up. I haven't yet investigated much about it, but it seemst to be at least something.
