Ohh nooo.. "Mom, Every game is a clone!" .. Seriously though im not sure if this was joke or for real. This game is nothing like minecraft in terms of gameplay. Don't let the blocks confuse you. We have loads of pixel 2D games also, are they all clones?

Hey friend, how did you get it to run ? I'm a complete noob to linux and I tried using wine but it didn't budge, it installed properly but when joining or creating a client only server it unexpectedly crashes. Great video btw, cheers!

Its a native mono game. It doesn't need wine. You start it with "mono ./Vintagestory.exe" while in the directory of the files.
