Great review. The only thing I like to see is the Watts to predict battery life. You don’t see that when it’s plugged in. But love your coverage.

@Liam, if you haven't, read the novels! They're superb and movies don't even scratch the surface 📖 Titan Books published all 16 novels in 7 volumes between 2016 and 2017. I read them all in two weeks, just couldn't stop.

Due to Linux users mostly uses wine and wine forks, some games are performing very poor with "vsync enabled", just like "wolcen" and its great to see AAA titles are working under linux almost seemingly and thank you for your efforts. amazing job with high quality reviews.

Those stutters might happen because of shader compilations or these are traversal stutters, for which UE4 engine titles are infamous nowadays on PC. Just guessing because of all the tech reviews Digital Foundry puts out for PC titles over the last months where Alex could find himself dealing with those problems over and over in UE4 titles. If it's shader compilations, you should not experience the same stutter the second time you play through the mission (if that is an option in this game). Greetings from Germany

They captured the vibe better than any game based on Aliens before it. That they're able to create this much dread with a top-down perspective is quite an achievement! My only gripes are that text doesn't have a scaling option and gamepad functionality seems unfinished, which is especially noticeable when navigating menus. Other than that, this is a fantastic game.

Btw, you don't need to force compatibility with this game at all. It works out of the box on Deck and exactly the same as on PS5(I have it on both platforms).

@@bng3450 It's less about controls being buggy and more about functionality, which is by design. Not being able to use the D-pad to navigate every menu and having that control alternate between the D-pad and L-stick is awkward. There's an inconsistency with menu navigation that I find frustrating. Probably highlighted by me playing Diablo 4 at the same time where menu navigation is wonderfully intuitive. Tindalos is a tiny dev in comparison to Blizzard though, so they get a pass. Sure would be nice though.

Use GE Proton instead of proton experimental. Controller will works much better. BUT... sometimes game will shut down itself when you back to base. And you will find you lose some progress and need to repeat again.

Performance is absolutely rubbish, devs are absolutely incompetent to make optimized games when we have great hardware, another missed opportunity. Alien Isolation runs admirably and looks photorealistic.

Yeah the game is really poorly optimised. It runs well on my main desktop with a RTX 4080 and ryzen 7600, but my second i7 7700k system with an RTX 3060 really chugs away. I'm surprised that the steam deck does as well as this tbh
