Sir Veccher, I don't think you understood the question. But yes, looks to bring it up to par with the Windows version in terms of FPS.

@@ThEMarD is openGL more Desktop oriented or Gaming oriented? wasn't it a Desktop Graphic Library?, can Vulkan do that? if the answer is yes the one possible dead is Microsoft..seems like nVidia the Gatekeeper was defeated by ATi (via qualcomm) in Android OS... Microsoft Windows is back in scope now

D3D will always be a higher priority to developers than OGL. Also, game engines are not necessarily _built for_ D3D or OGL just because it has native backends for those.

Eh but even on games and game engines built natively for OpenGL and DirectX still perform better in the latter. Prime example is Unigine. OpenGL on both Windows and Linux get roughly the same framerate yet Dx11 gets higher. The only time I've seen OGL truly outperform DX is OpenArena which of course is based on ID Tech 3 Engine... Which is more accurate to say is back in the glory days of OpenGL 2 vs Dx7 and it was no contest back then that OGL 2 was faster than Dx7. Just to be clear I'm not bashing Linux, in fact I enjoy Linux a lot but for gaming OpenGL has held it back. SteamOS is further proof of that since it didn't really gain attention mainly due to how badly games ran on it with OpenGL... If SteamOS would have released with Vulkan even in beta form as seen here in Mad Max? I bet the momentum would have continued... Still, as long as Vulkan gains traction even in Windows it would still be good for Linux as Doom 2016 Vulkan via wine is awesome... As long as Denuvo doesn't rear its ugly face again since it isn't wine compatible... Glad they dropped it after a few months though on Doom 2016

I don't think it's really due to OpenGL, but rather to its target use cases. Bridging D3D is certainly not an OpenGL goal. Vulkan being much more barebones, you might avoid doing costy things when you don't really need to.

Asu heyyo, tbh OpenGL has been holding back Linux since OGL 3.0 fell short of its original goals... Vulkan is overdue but glad it's finally out. OpenGL is dead, long live Vulkan. :)

I've heard this game is CPU bound by Feral's OpenGL wrapper (or perhaps by the game's DX9/11-style rendering pipe), which is *probably* why Vulkan makes such a huge impact (because the API encourages better CPU utilization)... depending on what kind of work Feral put into this Vulkan pipe of course (eg, did they rewrite parts of the renderer to be less CPU bound? Or, wrap a more CPU-friendly DX11/12 renderer that this game only previously supported on Windows? etc..). OpenGL could probably get somewhere close if Feral targeted GL 4.4 + AZDO, but that likely doesn't make financial sense to pursue considering GL is succeeded by Vulkan.

Feral only made the Linux port, and they made a Vulkan implementation. The original developers(Avalanche) didn't touch Linux and Feral didn't touch Windows.
