steam deck is just a pc.. so yes cross play will work between the 2.

Are there any performance improvements to be had with any power tools settings?

I use FSR balanced, brought shadows down to medium, and the Power Tools recommended settings applied and get 53-60 FPS (60+ the vast majority of the time). Very impressed with Power Tools and Proton, what a great moment in Linux gaming.

I don’t think you need FSR for performance, for a locked 40/40 and great quality. But for battery usage, as you mentioned, it’s a decent way to bring the power down and get longer battery life. For the texture pack, unless you’re running High or Ultra textures/settings (suited for 4k), you won’t see much difference. And Medium (suited for 1080p) is already more than enough for everything to look sharp on Steam Deck. As you said, on the small screen you’re just not going to notice (outside of maybe placebo lol).

Yeah i think some others showcasing it on the HD assets aren’t seeing what they think, lighting changes between times and FSR has a habit of resetting the sharpening so i reckon people saying it looks much better are confused.

I used up many of my life's limited hours playing Diablo3 on Switch. I would happily play Diablo4 on Deck, but the always-online is a deal breaker for me. I despise companies that force online connectivity to single player games. Blizzard has lost my business and my interest.

Diablo 4 is no longer a single player game, it is treated like an mmo. the land is continuous although it will handle instance switching like WoW did. I am keeping fingers cross for a switch version. Due to the way the friend codes work it would probably be best if they plugged in D3's handling of offline and multi play.

I have to question people who think negatively on cosmetic shops.. its like ..wtf have you been playing? just offline single player shit? We have had cosmetic shops as old as Warcraft and today you have genshin, warframe, GW2, and FF14 that all do cosmetics in their shop and their user base is totally fine with it. Overwatch didn't have anyone complaining about the skins but rather everything else about overwatch. Glad to see things look good on the steam deck, makes me think a switch version can be more easily accomplished. And having that fsr2 support out of the box, /chef's kiss.

@@MaNameizJeff I wouldn’t say it was accepted, forced upon us would be more accurate as they sucker people into it with FOMO. No monthly fees well yeah, you just paid full price. These games sell multiple millions often into billions, server costs are a tiny fraction of what they make and they have a very very long sales tail. Sticking up for paid cosmetics in a full price game is a really weird hill to die on bud. It’s nothing to do with barring a company from making money after release, no one is saying that. It’s about rinsing customers, making every penny they can from you. It’s ridiculous to stick up for companies doing it, they’re not your friend. I LOVE Diablo 4, very much so, but paid cosmetics in a full price game at release is stupid.

@@gamingonlinux having the content there in the shop on release is kind of stupid and sleazy, but otherwise it is accepted for games to have some cosmetic stuff added after the games release that is 100% optional. And wondering why a company isnt barred from making more money from a game after it's release is very silly. Especialy for a game that has no monthly fees. After all we do expect many updates to the game in it's life to keep people playing.

In regards to cosmetic shops - i have to question people who don’t get annoyed by it. Paying like £60-70 for a game, only to have cosmetics locked behind an extra paywall. Why do people see it as acceptable? I find it weird people are okay with it.

Always online could be a problem because lately people (including me) had WiFi connection issues on the Steam Deck(stable branch). Than you have the launcher where every update may brake the game, because there is no support for the SD. Then the high price without knowing what they are planning for the in-game shop(cosmetics are fine imo) or season pass. I'd like to buy the game, but there are too many reasons for me to resist. Still, it's nice to see that it's working so well on the SD with the right configurations at the moment and you're having fun playing it!

I love the Steam Deck but for this game, nah need to go for the 4K 60fps of the Series X/or PS5. Been waiting for clarity and performance like this since the last Diablo. Now it's here. Though it's amazing how it runs on the SD. Such a marvel!

D4 on Steam Deck is great for casual play through... but when it comes to more demanding instances, at least for me, kb and mouse are still superior so I switch to my gaming PC for those instances.

Medium preset..fsr 2 set to quality..imagine sharpening set to 60 and refresh rate set to 40.. literally doesn't budge below 40.. getting 2.5 - 3 hours battery life 😁👍
