Have you ever heard of the game #Duelyst? Released back in 2016 It was a mixture of a collectible card game with intense turn-based tactical battles. It was somewhat popular with plenty of die-hard fans but unfortunately the developers closed it down back in 2020. Two important details: - The game used to depend on a server, but the code dump also includes the server code. It even has an useful Docker package for easy deployment. - The license chosen for the code and assets was CC-0 which is basically public domain. Impossible to make it any more free.

Duelyst 2 is using the source code. They mentioned in their discord that they "got" the code but it was actually open sourced last year April

That seems to have microtransactions and be based on the release version of the game. This doesn't have them and it is the last version we got before shutting it down. At least that is what I think

I played this when it launched and the Devs most of the classes drastically changing it too much. For me it wasn't fun anymore and I moved on. I might have to take another look at it now that things are different. Open source is a huge win.

Hope they sort it out for Steam deck. I remember getting this game back in the day during the hearthstone hype. I loveeeeee the pixel art. The spirtes and animation are very well done!

I loved the original duelyst, I really liked the 2d grid aspect. I'm really happy to see it go open source. For a similar (though not as open source) story, check out the tribes games, and their attempted revival in Midair

Guys don't get fooled, this game is nothing like the original and the direction is still pay to win or endlessly grind to win. Also if you just started it's actually impossible to achieve anything what so ever. Very good idea for a game, very good 2D graphics, but very very poorly made and the unbalance is crazy. Imagine one card of the opponent can do more then your whole deck, and your opponent has 50 of those, and you will never see even one of those cards :) good luck. Pay to win.
