I gotta be completely honest... I do not have much faith in Bethesda to deliver this game in a state where it's playable, let alone compatible with Steam Deck. I'm absolutely thrilled to be proven wrong... I just don't trust them anymore which is why I'm waiting for the launch and see where it's headed after.

Same here, I'm expecting a typical Bethesda launch, though early previews state otherwise. That being said, those previews are usually played on top-end hardware

Cheers Liam. Ive been using the "Main" OS on my steam deck for about 2 months now and the only issue i can report is occasionally my steam deck will have difficulty entering sleep mode. VRR recently was readded about 2 weeks back. My favorite feature is being able to stretch the image of games locked to 16x9

BGS games have highly configurable ini files. I'm certain some intrepid ini explorer will figure out PS4 equivalent settings that'll allow us to run close to or at 30fps. Combine that with Cryoutils and inevitable performance mods and it should become a reality shortly after launch.

I would be careful with switching to Main Channel Beta. I had to opt out of it, because it was causing my gpu to over heat. Just be careful everyone who does this. Especially with Armored Core 6 specifically.

@@umbrasight1134 FSR 3 doesn’t mean a whole lot for Steam Deck tbh, don’t get why it’s being hyped for it. Steam Deck itself will only ever support FSR1 via the performance menu. For specific games, the frame generation pretty much requires 60FPS which counts out a lot of Steam Deck games. The native AA mode has a performance cost and isn’t really needed for the deck screen too. FSR2.2 is more exciting tbh.

I'm happy to see all these tech companies putting out new handhelds, but I have so little interest in a Windows handheld. Steam needs to finally release standalone SteamOS 3 and let other manufacturers use it in their handhelds so there's a real ecosystem out there.

Good to see all this support. Especially as a dev working on a game that runs on Unreal Engine 5. 😊 What Valve needs right now is not a Deck 2. It's some kind of SteamOS integration program for third party manufacturers. They need to spread SteamOS as much as possible. Of course, it might have a cost, since they will need people to track specific bugs that could come with new devices, but they could make manufacturers pay for it. After all, right now, they are paying for Winthing. 😓

I want to see other handheld manufacturers offer an option to have your unit ship with SteamOS installed! Valve must be having talks with other hardware companies about such, I wish we were privy to those conversations.

If the legon had more ram it would be more interesting. Its basically an ally in a black case with a touchpad and removable controller instead of an xg mobile port. More ram would have allowed the onboard graphics to use max memory and still have 16+ for the OS

I frankly don't trust Bethesda QA enough to pay anything near full price for a title. I love what they *try* to create (and eventually do build which is more of a platform than a game) so I'll explore Starfield in a year or two when the major bugs are worked out and mods improve the interface and quality of life.

the vibrant deck plugin messes up with the contrast a lot if you put it in any meaningful value. not sure how much this color temp for the display will be helpful tho. just shifting the temperature won't fix bad color accuracy.
