the only thing that hinders it is linux so just wait for proton update or try using other layers instead of proton the deck can handle games pretty well doesnt matter if new or not even the new CoD is running on it fine

This won't be fixed easily, the game uses Denuvo DRM but they didn't tell anyone. Denuvo usually causes problems like this.

Its using the frostbite engine which isnt the best in general so depends on which team at EA is using it. But with a game like this I would just play the old version.

I see Windows benchmarks for this on the Steam Deck are getting around 30-40 fps on auto detail, so the hardware is clearly capable.

I installed it on the internal ssd, running it fine on medium settings…. 30fps. Once you boot it up just give it a bit and it will eventually smooth out. Its not even optimized or patched at all. Not a bad start IMO. Hopefully devs patch it up

Good thing the original game is on GOG and runs brilliantly on the deck. Like it couldn't possible use less battery it's kinda insane how well the deck plays old DX9 games.

The original is also still available on Steam. However, it is not DRM free there. But at least it also doesn't have any extra forced EA launcher.

What I personally like about Steam and the Steam Deck with games like this is, if you are a Steam Deck only gamer, yeah, it's a bummer if you bought the game and now you can't play it, but on the other hand, if you also have a PC, you can still play it there so it's not necessarily a waste of money. I have both, so in my case, it sucks that I can't play it on the Steam Deck but I'm looking forward to play it on my PC and hopefully, if they fix it for the Steam Deck... I might be able to play it on both!

Game is quite playable on deck hardware in windows 11. low settings, high textures, AMDS FSR2 at balanced, I haven't seen it drop below 26 and it spends the majority of time in the first 2 hours above 40. Mostly INCREASES framerate if I frequency limit to 1300mhz while locking tdp to 16w. Note that despite the low settings it actually looks great and very readable. UI is also perfectly sized for the deck screen. Leads me to believe that a future patch to proton, or to the game, will clean up the experience to playability on the deck.

on windows I played on high with lighting and the fog thing (I'm too lazy ATM to look at everything and type it) and depth of view at low. I am getting around 30-40 fps. i the whole steam deck tools installed. I had tdp at 10 and frame rate at 40. in game the refresh rate was also at 40. it will sometimes dip to the low 30s or high 20s but for the most part it's consistent. I think I will put some screenshots up on your discord. in steamOS I was running low settings and the rest was the same. i had refresh rate at 60 and fps at 30. and I found that 10-12 tdp kept it at 30. at first the was choppy but not long after things were great and almost always at 30 with no dips. even going through doors. but I did try to use the map and that always froze the game. I had two instances where the game froze and it was going through the slamming door at the beginning. but after the 3rd time everything was great. with the almost constant 30fps I'd rather play it on steamos but then again I have not tried high settings.

I fully expected some upcoming games to not really be viable on the Deck. It's using a tiny, 15 watt APU, and for what it is it's AMAZING, but it would be foolish to think it would be able to run every single PC game perfectly for years to come. That's just not realistic. Maybe this one will get better with a patch or two though.

I wouldn't say that if devs keep minded that the steam deck is a platform and optimize their games more, then I don't see the deck not having any issues running future titles. Plus Motive is using the frostbite engine, which was designed for fps "battlefield." Why does EA keep mandating all their studios to use this engine to make other games that aren't fps.

I'm kinda angry right now ... I watched many reviews and previews of the game. They all said what a wonderful game the remake is... It is running flawless and this how it is supposed to be done. Now I bought the game and it is utterly trash. I never had a game that ran so badly. Never ! Weird long stutters and crashes make this game UNPLAYABLE! It’s not verified yet, so therefore, as a cutting edge modern game it’s probably not going to run on it well yet. Why not just say that rather than say ‘I’m not one to be negative but this is shocking’. It’s not Dead Space as that runs fine on a normal PC. Patience, mon ami! The whole point of testing a game, is to show people what it’s like for the people that want to know right now. Games don’t need to be Verified in any way to run on Steam Deck and fully Verified games often have problems too. I made it clear multiple times in the video a shader cache will help it, and the rest serves as a warning like the map crash bug that other creators didn't warn people on.

I think it actually woefully bad game design... been running Titanfall 2 again after rebuking on Steam because of the sale price and less hassle then setting it up on lutris/origin. Anyway Titanfall look amazing on Steam Deck and runs at 60 fps. These newer games are just not scaled properly or at least there game engines are not. Game development have gotten lax as the Steam Deck is plenty fast for 800p ... can play video parts of games without stutter....? Render out a video then... is it rocket science?

**UPDATE**: Here's my new video going over the fixes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liIh1i7vE1E Valve has now put up an "initial" shader cache to solve some of the stuttering. However it doesn't solve a lot of the other issues, like the map crashing the game that some other creators somehow entirely missed telling you, and the cases where it hard-crashes resulting in rebooting the Steam Deck. I've also noticed some other creators videos on Steam Deck is after they've run it multiple times, it's incredibly misleading to do that. I've spoken to Valve developers and provided crash log files for the map issue across multiple Proton versions, and a log of the Steam Deck reboot too. So hopefully they can find the problems.
