Another month, another update! Today, Im excited to present a patch focused on enhancing the gameplay experience. Alongside changes to the car handling, I've added a variety of new level variants, changes to the tutorial display, and a brand-new version of the dashboard. For the first time, we're also introducing the initial iteration of Chill Mode! Check out the full list of changes below.

List of changes:

Chillmode (additional game mode)
Around 20 new level variants
Around 15 new map assets
New dashboard variants (color customization available in settings)
Improved car control during landing (the car now has a larger margin for error, allowing for smoother landings)
Improved car collision with environment objects (collisions no longer register as quickly as before, and players dont bounce off walls as much)
At the end of each round, a summary panel appears showing informations such as (traveled distance, played time, highest highscore for that specific round, amount of collected MB)
Improved distance tracker, now accurately measuring the distance the player has traveled.

Performance fixes

Additionally, I noticed a significant issue with anti-aliasing when running in 1920x1080 resolution or lower, along with frequent FPS drops at lower resolutions. This problem has been completely fixed!

Next update

Last month, we had a store update. This month, its all about gameplay. So, next month, were diving into a Main Menu update.

Heres what to expect:

New quests
Balanced rewards and MB for achievements and quests
Increased number of achievements
Profile customization options
New license plates as rewards for defeating Ghost Riders
The option to switch monitors in settings and a visual update to the settings menu

Additionally, Ive got prepared five more new cars. These will be the final 5 additional vehicles before the games release. Now, I just need to find the time to implement them! Stay awesome!

General Concept

This isn’t a classic racing game. Midnight Racer aims to capture the spirit of old arcade games with a modern twist. You don’t compete with other players in real-time here. The main goal of the game is to put you in a trance-like state, allowing you to kill time and stop thinking about anything, no matter your mood.

To enhance your gaming experience, the game allows you to turn off the music while keeping the other sounds. This way, you’re encouraged to play your own music in the background. This game is best enjoyed with your favorite songs.

The game allows you to drive very fast cars, which will require significant skill to stay on track, as well as slower ones designed for a more relaxed experience.
To further support your choice of play style, Midnight Racer features a chill mode where there’s no time or score pressure. The tracks in this mode are also much easier.

Features

Drift! Become a drift master. To stay on track and achieve higher scores, drift your way to victory!

Time-Limited Gameplay with Time Extensions: Play within a set time limit, with opportunities to extend your playtime.

Synthwave Atmosphere: The entire game is crafted in a psychedelic synthwave/vaporwave style. Immerse yourself in the 80s vibe with a modern twist.

Shop: Purchase new cars. Each car has its own unique perks and different stats.

Quest System Tailored to Your Playstyle: You can choose the length of the quests you want to undertake, ensuring they fit your preferred style of play.

Achievement System: Your progress in the game is tracked, with every success rewarded with special prizes such as new skins, colors, or even cars!

Leaderboard: If you enjoy competition, there are 10 Ghost Riders for you to defeat, allowing you to earn better titles and their license plates.

Chillout Mode: Depending on your mood and preferred gameplay pace, you can opt for a game mode that slows things down, allowing you to relax with less demanding gameplay.

My Chillout Zone: Turn off the in-game music while keeping the sound effects, play your own music, and experience the game on your own terms.
