About the game

A nefarious pirate crew murdered your mentor and stole the Corgi Pearls. Will you be a good dog?

It is the distant future, and dogs (as well as cats and other species) have inherited the world. They have built the kingdom of Pugmire untold centuries after the Ages of Man are over. These dogs have been uplifted to use tools and language, and they seek to rediscover the ruins of the Old Ones. Some have learned to use the leftover technology of humanity, but they believe it to be magic handed to them by their lost gods. Others seek to create an ideal civilization, using a Code of Man compiled from ancient, fragmentary lore left behind by humanity. The world is dangerous and mysterious, but good dogs will persevere.

Pugmire: Treasure of the Sea Dogs is a novel where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

You are a recently-graduated member of the Royal Pioneers of Pugmire, a group dedicated to travelling the more hazardous parts of the world to protect dogs in need, recover lost knowledge and artifacts, or hunt down dangerous criminals. Unfortunately your trustee—Padraig Corgi—was murdered by a nefarious dark wizard, and his family’s treasured pearls stolen.

Tasked with recovering the pearls and avenging his death, you travel with fellow pioneer Sonya Pyrenees, a fearless warrior who has turned her back on her family’s heritage in order to fight evil abroad. You are also joined by Damian Borzoi, a ne’er-do-well ex-lover of Padraig’s who wants revenge while having a good time, ideally with someone else’s money. Together you explore the ruins of Earth with sword or spells in your paw.
Can you discover the strange secret of the Corgi Pearls, or will pirates and politics distract you from your quest?

• Choose any breed of dog you like, as well as from one of eight distinct callings.
  
• Struggle with moral dilemmas while trying to be a good dog.
  
• Spend time in various animal-run cities, such as Pugmire, Houndton, and Waterdog Port.
  
• Sail on the Acid Sea, keeping your ship afloat while avoiding sea monsters and pirates.
  
• Fight or outsmart a variety of unusual enemies, such as demons, zombies, and the kraken.
  
• Play as male, female, or nonbinary; gay, straight, aromantic, or polyamorous.
