Story
What is Hana ?
Hana is a tactical top-down 3D MMORPG in which you play as a Hanari, a member of an ancient people whose civilization has been nearly wiped out. Face formidable enemies solo or alongside your friends, grow your guild and your trade, and take part in rebuilding the Hanari civilization.
The game is currently being developed in Unity. To facilitate prototyping, we initially worked with 3D characters and monsters, combined with AI-generated 2D environments that were then manually reworked to achieve a more personal visual style. This phase was temporary and allowed us to quickly design a fully functional prototype.
Over time, the project’s ambition has grown, and we now aim to deliver a more immersive experience by adopting a fully 3D environment with a free camera. We have already begun transitioning the game to this complete 3D version, but it is not yet available. This Kickstarter’s goal is to accelerate that transition.

Combat
Dive into the universe of Hana, a rich and diverse open world where you can explore vast regions filled with mysterious creatures, engaging quests, and challenging dungeons to conquer.
Engage in combat freely, anywhere in the world, whether against monsters or other players.
The combat system is based on strategic turn-based gameplay. The player with the highest initiative starts, then teams take turns acting until the next round.
Each player has Action Points (AP) and Movement Points (MP), which can be used to cast spells or move across the battlefield. These points automatically regenerate at the start of each turn.
Your objective is simple, defeat all your opponents. There is no turn limit only your strategy will determine the outcome.
Classes
In Hana, you play as a Hanari, a child of the Hana sacred trees created by the goddess Elaria. Before setting out to explore the world, you can shape your own identity by choosing from three Hanari races, each with its own distinct visual traits.
In addition, the game features eight playable classes, covering a wide range of combat styles: ranged DPS, melee fighters, tanks, supports, and hybrid classes capable of adapting to multiple situations. Each class has unique mechanics and an evolving gameplay style.
Players can customize their appearance while also developing their skills, elemental affinities, and professions as they progress. Every Hanari tells a different story, shaped by your choices, your alliances, and your discoveries across the worlds of Hana.
Guardians
The Guardian system is designed as a true second character, rather than a simple summon. From the very beginning of the adventure, each player receives a unique seed that must be integrated into their party, allowing it to grow and evolve through combat.
As players progress, they will be able to acquire multiple different seeds, each offering unique evolution paths. However, only one seed can be used per battle, reinforcing the importance of strategic choices.
Each seed can be shaped to fit the player’s needs, focused on damage, healing, or tanking, through a wide range of skills and specializations. Thanks to a flexible progression system and a large variety of spells, guardians become true extensions of the player, perfectly adapted to their playstyle.
Arboretum
The Arboretum is a mysterious structure used to enhance the quality of equipment. Interactions take place through a dedicated interface resembling a forge carved from bark.
All equipment crafted or obtained from monsters starts at 1 star, and can be upgraded up to 3 stars.
To upgrade an item from one star level to another, players must consume multiple copies of the lower-tier version along with Hana’s Tears. The success rate depends on the desired upgrade:
1 star → 2 stars: 70% success rate
2 stars → 3 stars: 45% success rate
Operation Outcomes
On failure:
The three pieces of equipment are returned, but the Tears are lost.
On success:
The three pieces of equipment and the Tears are consumed.
Hana’s Tears are obtained by making offerings at the foot of the ancient Hana tree, located in the village. Any equipment, resource, or consumable item can be offered.
What Does Enhancement Do?
When fusing equipment, the item placed at the top of the interface acts as the reference item, the core of the fusion process. Equipment is upgraded in star level, which results in two key improvements:
Evolving visuals (not planned for the Kickstarter, but coming later)
Improved statistics
Guilds & Craft
The crafting system allows players to create a wide variety of items and equipment using dedicated workshops. Each craft grants experience, gradually unlocking new recipes. Players can produce equipment of various rarities and refine essential resources such as planks, ingots, and leather.
To access advanced crafts, such as rare equipment, guilds play a central role. Guilds can build their own workshops by purchasing and developing plots within their guild houses. When guild members craft items in these workshops, the guild gains prestige, allowing it to level up its workshops. Higher workshop levels unlock new benefits and exclusive recipes.
Guilds can also open their workshops to external players in exchange for currency, creating a true community-driven economy. Finally, free public workshops are available and accessible to everyone, but they offer limited crafting options, encouraging players to progress toward guild-owned workshops.
Dynamic Environment
In Hana, the world reacts to player actions. Each area has its own ecosystem that can either thrive or deteriorate depending on your choices. Burn forests and nature will wither; protect them and biodiversity will flourish. These transformations directly affect available resources, quests, and even combat encounters, creating a living world that evolves in real time alongside the community.
Destructible Elements
Combat in Hana features interactive environments where every object can be manipulated or destroyed. Trees, rocks, pillars, and wooden structures react to different types of spells such as fire, force, slashing, arcane, or pure destruction, offering countless strategic possibilities.
By altering the terrain or triggering effects like fire propagation, players directly influence the flow of battle.
The Game Universe
Hana takes place in a medieval fantasy universe where divine entities were born from the collision of stars. One of them, Elaria, shaped the planet Nostrara, giving birth to the Hanas, colossal trees capable of creating life itself.
Through them, a humanoid people emerged: the Hanaris, bound to the Hanas and living in harmony thanks to a luminous sap essential to their survival.
This peace was shattered by Kharos, a power-hungry divinity that feeds on living worlds. By invading Nostrara with his parasitic creatures, the Naroks, he unleashed a devastating war. Unable to defeat him, Elaria sacrificed her last strength by scattering the essence of the Hanas across the universe and sealing Kharos into an eternal slumber.
Since then, Hana seeds have taken root on distant worlds, giving rise to new Hanaris left to fend for themselves. But the Naroks relentlessly hunt them, seeking to awaken their master and erase all traces of Elaria’s creation.

Interactive Music
The music of the project is described as interactive, meaning it dynamically evolves based on in-game actions, such as the progression of a battle or the time of day.
Each track has been specifically composed with the goal of making the soundtrack as unique and alive as possible, allowing the musical identity of Hana to exist in perfect harmony with every other aspect of the game world.
A Handcrafted Soundscape
While some games rely on pre-existing sound libraries, we chose to build the entire sound universe of Hana from the ground up.
Players will discover unique ambiences recorded specifically to enhance each area of the game, carefully designed sound effects for every creature and magical ability, as well as hand-crafted Foley work. All of this is done to make the world of Hana feel magical, unique, yet grounded and coherent.
Campaign Stretch Goals
The story behind Hana
Hana has been in development for just over two and a half years. Since the project’s inception, we have come a long way.
We began by designing a prototype of the combat system before developing a network infrastructure for a true multiplayer experience. To test this system under real-world conditions, we organized our first open server test in June 2024.
That was the moment we welcomed our very first players. After so much hard work, seeing people take an interest in Hana and follow its development was a deeply motivating experience.
Driven by this enthusiasm, we gradually expanded the team. We started as a team of three, and today there are seven of us working on Hana, primarily during our free time.
On July 5, 2025, the project reached a major milestone. We organized a new playtest that far exceeded our expectations: 644 unique players participated, with a peak of over 200 simultaneous users.
It was at that exact moment we realized Hana was entering a whole new dimension. The project was scaling up. We decided to invest even more of ourselves and aim for a much higher ambition.
This drive is what led us to launch this Kickstarter campaign: to raise funds alongside our community in order to transform Hana into an even more ambitious, polished, and sustainable game.

Economic Model
Hana follows a fully free-to-play model. All game content is accessible without any mandatory payment.
To ensure the long-term sustainability of the project, we offer an optional subscription based on a Pay-to-Fast model. This subscription provides experience and loot rate bonuses, allowing players to progress faster, while never being required to enjoy the game.
An in-game shop will also be available, offering cosmetic items for characters and companions, as well as convenience services such as name or server changes. Purchases will be made using a premium currency called Nectar.
We are fully committed to transparency: no Pay-to-Win content will ever be offered. Our priority is to guarantee fair progression and a balanced game environment for all players.

Here is how this reward works:
you submit an idea for the cosmetic you would like. If the concept is approved by the team and fits within the lore of the Hana universe, we will first create a concept sketch for you to review and validate.
Once the design is approved, we will produce the cosmetic in 3D and add it directly to your account.
You will be the only player to own this cosmetic, making it truly exclusive.
We will also send you the final concept art of the equipment in digital format as a keepsake.
Addons
We have added optional add-ons that can be purchased alongside your Kickstarter pledge. These allow you to include subscriptions or Nectar, the game’s premium currency.
Both subscriptions and Nectar benefit from an approximately 20% discount compared to their price at launch. This is the perfect opportunity to start building up premium currency and subscription time at a reduced cost, while providing valuable support to the development of Hana!
Accessibility
Available Languages
Hana will be available in English and French at launch. We plan to open both an international server and a French-speaking server.
If a large community emerges in other languages, we will open dedicated servers and provide a full localization of the game for those regions.

Hana is planned to release on Windows and Linux.
Inspirations
Hana is rooted in several universes that have deeply influenced us.
In terms of gameplay, the game draws inspiration from Final Fantasy Tactics, Atlantica Online, and Wakfu for their tactical approach, community richness, and ever-evolving living world.
Artistially and narratively, Hana explores a nature-centric fantasy, where every creature, tree, or resource is part of a fragile balance. Works like Avatar fueled our vision of an organic and spiritual world, while Stargate inspired the game's cosmic dimension and the portals connecting worlds, symbols of exploration and mystery.
Hana was thus born from the intersection of the wonder of interstellar travel and the poetry of a living world, where every player action shapes the universe around them.
Roadmap
Technical Foundations and Future Vision
We have already cleared the most complex hurdles. Today, we have a functional prototype capable of handling thousands of players simultaneously on a single server. This robust infrastructure guarantees the technical viability of our universe.
Short-term Goal: Our immediate priority is to complete the full code migration to the 3D version presented above.
Long-term Vision: We plan to integrate all the mechanics detailed in this campaign. To ensure a balanced and high-performance experience, we will involve you directly through several testing phases: regular playtests, an Alpha, and a closed Beta.
It is with this rigor and passion that we approach the next stages of development.
2026 – Funding Completion & Start of Production
We are finalizing the transition from the 2D/3D hybrid version to the full 3D version, including the map system, server management, a new combat system, and more.
2027 – Closed Alpha
Access reserved for backers who chose an Early Access pack. This version will showcase the complete vision of the game in 3D—fully playable, though still subject to minor instabilities.
2028 – Closed Beta
Open to backers with Early Access. Most gameplay mechanics will be implemented at this stage. We will then enter a phase of polishing, stabilization, and content addition leading up to the official release.
