The Call to Adventure: The Soul Of Asela
The Premise: The Soul Harvest
The galaxy is under siege by an unknown extraterrestrial entity. This invader is not conquering planets for resources, but for the very essence of life: the souls within them. They move methodically, planet by planet, harvesting every spirit they can find.
Now, their attention has fallen on Asela, a planet whose ancient soul has witnessed the incoming crisis. For centuries, the planetary soul has quietly searched for a defender among the world's various civilizations.
It found one in the most unlikely place…
THE LORE | Meet Arq and Oko
Arq is a curious, blue-hued teenaged fish humanoid from the water-influenced tribe, the Huarn. Living a quiet life as a Temple Guard, Arq yearns for the world outside his city gates—a curiosity that will soon save his life and that of the entire planet.
His journey begins when he saves an eel from a swarm of aggressive jellyfish near the shoreline. This eel, named Oko, is grateful and forms an immediate, deep bond with Arq, joining him on his adventures.
This act of bravery catches the attention of Asela's soul, marking Arq and Oko as the chosen heroes to stop the impending crisis.
Chapter 1 | The Invasion Begins
Arq's routine exploration takes a dark turn when a mysterious, fiery object crashes near the east side of his island.
- The Threat: Mechanical monsters begin appearing, attacking forest inhabitants and stirring chaos.
- First Contact: After calming the frenzied crabs by battling the initial mechanical threat, Arq realizes this is an invading source.
- The Confrontation: Following the enemy trail, Arq discovers a cave where a massive mechanical creature is self-assembling. He engages in a battle he cannot win, realizing the threat is far too powerful for his tribe alone.
After retreating to his elders, Arq learns of the other tribes around the world. He is given a critical mission: He must travel across Asela, warn the other tribes, and convince them to join forces before the entity completes its Soul Harvest.
Chapter 2 | The Eight Pillars of Asela
Asela is populated by eight distinct tribes, each fundamentally influenced by a unique element. Arq's primary mission is to traverse the globe, gain their trust, and unite them against the invading extraterrestrial entity. Each tribe presents a unique biome, a challenging Temple quest, and a powerful Elemental Orb.
Oko's Transformation and Elemental Power
When you successfully aid a tribe and its Guardian, you receive an Elemental Orb. This orb allows your companion, Oko, to transform his shape and form, granting Arq new abilities, traversal tools, and elemental combat aid essential for overcoming new obstacles and reaching previously inaccessible areas.
The Tribes, Guardians, and Rewards
1. HUARN: The Water Tribe
- Hailing from island territories, the Huarn people are influenced by the flow of rivers and mountains. Arq's initial journey begins here, where he must first calm frenzied local enemies like Jellyfish and Crabs. Their revered protector is the Great Tortoise, and aiding him unlocks the Aqua Wave ability, which functions as a crucial early-game Grappling Hook for improved mobility.
2. PRILN: The Lightning Tribe
- Located near floating lightning boulders, the Priln are masters of raw electrical energy. Their lands are home to aerial threats like Vultures and Wyverns. To gain their trust, you must overcome the challenge of the mighty Wyrm Lord, which rewards Arq with the Shock Beam ability—a versatile Magnetic Hook for navigating electrically-charged environments.
3. CAYD: The Ice Tribe
- The Cayd endure the frozen northern landscapes, surrounded by fierce beasts like Polar Bears and Snow Tigers. To master the element of Ice, Arq must defeat the imposing Sasquatch King. Success grants the Shard Burst power and the invaluable Ice Suit, allowing passage through extremely cold areas.
4. BREN: The Wind Tribe
- The Bren reside in the high, blustery peaks, sharing their domain with swift creatures like Harpies and Gorillas. Their ancient protector is the Elder Crow. By proving his worth, Arq is rewarded with the Gust Draft ability and Glide Arms, which are essential for covering large distances and traversing dangerous vertical zones.
5. FERA: The Fire Tribe
- The Fera inhabit volcanic regions, constantly facing the heat and common enemies such as Lizards and volatile Bombs. Their challenge is the fearsome Lava Centipede. Triumphing over this Guardian unlocks the Fire Spit attack and the durable Heat Suit, allowing Arq to withstand extreme temperatures and access areas saturated with lava.
6. GAOM: The Earth Tribe
- The Gaom are tied to the deep canyons and deserts, battling resilient foes like Sand Golems and ancient Mummies. Their guardian is the bedrock of their mountains: the Mountain Golem. Defeating it grants the power of Boulder Throw and the Rock Body enhancement, offering superior defense and the ability to smash geological obstacles.
7. LUME: The Light Tribe
- The Lume are associated with purity and divine energy, often dealing with animated defenses like Statues and stylized Humanoids. Their protector is the steadfast Protector Statue. Success bestows the Glowing Saber Slash ability and the Light Shield, offering protection and revealing hidden paths obscured by darkness.
8. UMRAM: The Darkness Tribe
- The Umram reside in the deepest, shadow-drenched parts of Asela, battling ethereal enemies like Ghosts and Shreaks. Their final and perhaps most terrifying challenge is the Black Hole Shadow. Triumphing here grants the forbidden power of the Dark Aura Blast and the Dark Wings, offering immense power and traversal freedom.

Chapter 3 | CORE GAMEPLAY MECHANICS AND SYSTEMS
The Combat Experience
The combat system is designed to be engaging and adaptive. It revolves around targeting an enemy and effectively managing your attacks using a combination of a sword and magic. As challenges intensify, players must choose the best combat mode available and adapt their elemental strengths and weaknesses on the fly. As Arq and Oko gain power through the adventure, you will harness further elemental abilities to create a formidable duo capable of tackling any adversary.
Quests and Rewards
Throughout the Cities and Field areas, various NPCs (Non-Player Characters) will request assistance or tasks. These interactions are key to delving deeper into the lore of the tribes and the unfolding crisis. Rewards for aiding citizens and completing these side quests may include unique gear, currency, or crucial information that aids your journey across Asela.
Guardian Puzzles And Tools
Each Tribe has a Guardian that has fallen into disarray—often corrupted or requiring restoration. Aiding the Tribe's Guardian involves navigating challenging Temple Puzzles that test your wits and your mastery of previously acquired elemental abilities. Successfully completing these challenges rewards you with the crucial Rare Loot and traversal tools (like the Grappling Hook or Glide Arms) that are necessary for progression.
The Hunt System (Bosses)
For those who love a challenge, a robust Hunt System will be implemented. This feature tests your skill and preparation against large, powerful, optional Bosses. These adversaries must be found and tackled with careful planning regarding your elemental gear and companion forms. Overcoming these challenging Hunts will reap unique, high-value rewards.
The Armory System (Gear Sets)
Success requires preparation. The Armory System allows players to save different configurations of Gear and Weapons as custom sets inside the battle menu. These sets are interchangeable even during battles, allowing players to quickly swap resistances and attack types to match the current threat. Braving the planet in search of the rarest loot will unlock the strongest strengths and benefits available.
Music Style
The score for Asela draws deep inspiration from classic and modern RPGs, offering a mix between the epic, orchestral sounds of Final Fantasy and Zelda, the atmospheric depth of Nier, and the challenging tone of Souls games.
Stretch Goal Ambition: If this campaign is a huge success, the goal is to personally contact legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu to request numerous original songs to be part of the field and battle music heard throughout your adventure.
