Wrapping up, here is a look at the new single/multi-player mode.
Coming end of April*, see gifs below!
You start with the sniper rifle. But now, the runner will find new guns, ammo & train fuel in the boxes. When he makes it back, he'll hand everything over to you.
We killed the shop. No more coins.
Now, you gather experience based on your shooting skills. With enough experience, you can pick a boost between rounds. And stack them!
Think Nuclear Throne's rogue-like approach meets first person shooter. Every game plays out with a different set of weapons, ammo & boosts and it is so much fun.
This is the main mode going forward. All weapons, new boosts and the new map 3 are in there, as well as 2-player online coop, where one plays the runner.
Shotgun Preview (incl glimpse of a mini boss placeholder zombie):
Sentry Preview (one of my favs. so useful):
Gatling/Minigun Preview (another fav). Also map 3:
Handover Screen, nice haul from the first run:
My fav tower in map 3, looking down the mountain:
And finally, map 2, multiplayer, playing as runner:
Fun fact: As of today, we have 488 commits on this update. We know you would love to get stuff into your hands earlier, but a completely new game mode & multiplayer means tearing everything apart. We are two devs working full time on Dead TrailZ and are committed to make it a shiny example of what Early Access can do for a game.
Thanks for your support and feedback that brought us here. If you like this please share.
* what can go wrong?!

"I just like sniping as a game dynamic, and I liked how the game was trying to combine that with tactical placement.” - TechCrunch
Escape the Apocalypse. Zipline between vantage points surrounding the battle field and use heavy weapons to cover your teammate on longer and longer supply runs.
Basic rules:
- Runner starts and ends at the train station
- Runner has a certain amount of ammunition which refills for each run
- Predict the runner's path and pave the way for him to return safely
The main game is about scavenging a series of maps, finding enough fuel & weapons in each stage to progress to the next.
Your runner finds supplies & fuel in the boxes, which he hands over to you after each run.
If things get tight, call the runner back any time.
Gather XP with your shooting kills to unlock perma-boosts and make sure to pick up some helicopter drops.
The first two maps can also be played in an endless practice scenario & also feature 15 strategic levels, each with a unique solution path that requires more than just shooting. Levels have a fix setup of where survivors come in and where the zombies are and can only be resolved with strategic and well-timed use of the available weapons and tools.
