We've made a lot of improvements and changes to Stardander School for Witches, and with the recent launch, I decided to copy those over to Stardander Revenant!



This includes lots of UI and usability improvements, lots of additional options (like auto advance, text speed and controls), and a complete overhaul of the battle UI, including quick casting spells, and added animations to potions and enemies.



While this update doesn't add any additional content (I feel the story is complete as is), it does make Stardander Revenant much better to play, especially if you're used to the improvements in Stardander School for Witches.

Stardander School for Witches is now released in Early Access! We're so excited to share this game with the world!

Five years after the events of Stardander Revenant, Professor Dare (the lovable cat headmaster) mysteriously vanishes. Seven years later, she returns with no explanation, ready to resume her duty as headmaster. Protector Rea, leader of the Fae-Human alliance, is suspicious, and wants Callie, the first of our four perspective witches, to spy on Dare at Stardander now that the school is finally re-opened.



The entire Stardander experience is available to you - taking classes, learning spells, fighting fae. But now youll have the opportunity to explore the castle, and dont forget to investigate secrets and gather evidence for Rea!

Why Early Access?

Right now, we have finished and polished the first four in-game years - which gets you to a satisfying half-way point in the story. Wed like to get the game in front of players to see what they think and get feedback as we finish developing the last half. Already, the game is around 8 hours of play time. Anyone who owns the Early Access version will get ALL updates and future years for no additional cost (we have seven years total planned). Main Features Include:

• Colorful Cast: Play as four complex main characters, each with their own reasons for learning magic.
  
• The Power of Friendship: Become friends or frenemies with your fellow witches-in-training.
  
• Optional Battle System: Recruit your friends to help you battle dangerous Fae in a unique turn-based battle system.
  
• Magical Companions: Talk to and form pacts with Fae to gain familiars.
  
• Progress Reports: Take classes, learn spells, and pass your exams. Use your power to cultivate magical plants and brew potions to enchant items.
  

This update doesn't change the game content, but it adds a lot of UI improvements and quality of life changes based on player feedback. This includes:

• A better save system
  
• Dialogue boxes that no longer cover faces
  
• Spells are now learned every class instead of every other class - giving you more access to all the cool spells.
  
• A new (more readable) font
  
• A setting for window opacity (to make text easier to read)
  
• A skip button (you can still hold space or A on a gamepad to skip)
  
• Improvements to gamepad/keyboard controls
  

Stardander Revenant was made in one month for the Spooktober VN Jam, and after a month of judging the 114 entries, the judges have finally announced the results - and we placed second!

We are so excited and honored to have placed in a year with some of the toughest competition, and we got a lot of great feedback and ideas for improving Stardander School for Witches!

We're also going to make a few tweaks based on feedback to Stardander Revenant, so expect an update in the next few days.
