A new beta build 0.23.b1 is now live and available for public testing. You can switch to the beta build in the Sailwind settings on Steam (right click Sailwind -> Properties -> Betas). The aim of this beta is to test several major bug fixes and technical changes which affect some of the core systems of the game, including the save and load system. As such, there is a higher than usual possibility of your saves not working/becoming corrupted when used in this beta version. It is recommended to back up your save files before you play! Main changes: Autosaves - The game will now automatically save your progress every 5 minutes (the save interval will be customizable in a later patch). Each slot will now also automatically store up to 5 previous saves. Better recovery - Recovery will now bring you to the last port you visited. This includes all ports, not just the capital cities. Fixed various bugs associated with recovery, including items disappearing from your inventory, boats not mooring correctly, etc. Better sinking - Increased the amount of water a boat needs to take in before it sinks. - There is now a hull creaking sound which gets increasingly louder as your boat gets closer to sinking. - Recovering your boat after sinking will now also recover all cargo, furniture and items on the boat. Better docking - You can now push your boat off a dock, from inside the boat. - Boats should now be much less likely to be pushed and stuck against the pier by a side wind. - Improved collision detection of boats with docks, especially around the bow and stern. Issues with boats glitching into docks should now happen less often. - Items left on your other boats should no longer become scattered randomly when you come back to the boat later, and their mooring lines should no longer become slack. Other - Some slight changes to the physics related to drag, mostly aimed at alleviating some of the tacking issues with the big ships. - You can now change the color of already installed sails in the shipyard (currently for free, this will probably be changed in a later patch). Set sail towards adventure in the world of Sailwind! This sailing simulator with survival elements features realistic sailing physics and a vast open world to explore. Embark on cargo delivery missions, customize your boat with furniture and decorations, or enjoy some fishing.

Take it easy and go for a calm, relaxing trip around the local islands, or, when you're ready for some adventure, buy a big boat and go on a dangerous voyage across the ocean to distant lands. SAILING

Full realistic sailing physics – in order to sail successfully, you’ll have to tack, reef the sails in heavy weather, keep track of the direction of the wind to find the perfect angle. Watch out for the ever changing weather and waves!

Six boats of different sizes and sail plans to choose from, each with its own unique sailing characteristics and performance.

ADVENTURE & SURVIVAL

There are many reasons to set sail – cargo delivery, fishing, exploration, or simply for pleasure.
Looking for some relaxation? Enjoy the sunny beaches and crystal clear waters around the tropical archipelagos.
Ready for an adventure? Buy a big boat, stock up on supplies, plot your route and set sail for an epic ocean voyage, where you will battle high waves, heavy winds, and where running out of food or water is a real danger.

OPEN WORLD

The world consists of many islands across three distinct regions, each with unique climate, architecture and economy. Drop anchor or dock your boat, step off and explore each island freely. Make sure to stock up on food and water – both in game and in real life, as a journey across the ocean can take many hours of real time with no land in sight!

NAVIGATION

Use navigation instruments such as the compass and quadrant to determine your heading and position. Observe the sun and stars, chart your position on the map, and hope you don’t get too far off course on the long journey across the vast ocean.

BOAT CUSTOMIZATION

Your boat is your home on the sea. Make it feel cozy by customizing with furniture, decorations and paint. Cook your own food, clean and polish the deck, and at the end of the day, sit in a chair and have some rum or smoke a pipe while watching the sunset.
