Hello Chrysalis community! I just pushed a Beta release for controller support on all platforms! To opt-in, right click Chrysalis in your Steam library and go to Properties. Then go to the Betas tab and select "patch1.5-beta". You might also need to tell Steam to treat your controller like a normal gamepad: go to the Controller tab to do that. Click the "Controller Configurator" link. Change the template to "Gamepad" (instead of Keyboard/Mouse).
Load the game, plug in your controller (if necessary) and go to Options. Change your input method to Controller. The keybinds will be listed below that. You may want to re-enable Game Tips to relearn the controls since there are some differences between the mouse/kb and controller schemes.
IMPORTANT NOTE: your beta saves are NOT backwards compatible with the normal game. You will be able to load your current saved game and saved options, but if you swap back to the non-beta version of the game, your saves/options will no longer work. Your achievements and scores will not be affected. If you want to save your current game and options before switching to the beta, go to your saves folder (listed below) and rename your save.dat and opt.dat files to something else like "save-old.dat" and "opt-old.dat".
After playing, please post about your experience here in the comments, on the Steam forums, or on Discord. I'm especially interested in the experience of Steam Deck users since I don't have one myself. Thanks in advance!

Chrysalis is a hybrid tower-defense/survival RPG set in a world of natural mythology, with an emphasis on procedural generation, customizability, and replayability. Play the role of an incorporeal Wisp tasked with defending a magical chrysalis against forces of corruption and darkness. Search for resources and enlist the aid of friendly plants and animals as you explore each randomly generated level. Fend off waves of monsters, with each level offering new challenges, specialized wave types, procedurally generated bosses, and more.
Key Features:
Symbiosis: take control of any friendly plant or animal in the game.
Metamorphosis: level up your creatures and plants, transform them into more powerful versions, and apply elemental Spirits for further customization.
Mutation: a complex mutation system combines different species to create new creatures with unique sets of abilities and metamorphoses.
Customization: at the beginning of each playthrough, you choose a Chrysalis that caters to a specific style of play, with unlockable abilities that increase your power as you progress. By defeating waves of monsters, you will earn Boons which grant additional passive or active abilities, offering further ways to enhance your controlled creatures.
Modability: add new creature and plant species, abilities, art, and more by simply editing text files and dropping your images into the appropriate folder. Specific instructions and documentation will be forthcoming.
