Hello!
We're happy to announce that the new major update for A Fishy RPG is already live!
Now each of the four protagonists of A Fishy RPG have a unique abilitiy that can help you through your journey. Also, huge changes were made on the design of the game, giving it more detailed and animated sprites - the vast majority of changes were made on the first world (surface). Some important bugs, such as the fishing rod gone when you minimized the game, are now fixed as well, and there's much more! Below you can find the main changes.
Added abilities to all four characters (speed, attack, defense and balance);
Added moving water animation on surface level;
Added clouds to a bigger portion of the surface level;
Changed design of some sprites (trees, sand, rock limits etc.);
Changed position of player on dungeon (level) 6, because it was too close to the secret house that leads to the alternate ending;
Fixed fishing rod missing when minimizing the game;
Fixed minor bugs.
Regarding the save feature: your legendary fishes are automatically saved when you catch them, so you don't need to manually save when you catch one for the first time. As for your progress in the game, since the full gameplay is relatively short and we want you to try different paths and characters to finish the game, we though it would be better if you couldn't save it. This is not a final decision and, please, let us know how you feel about it and for sure we will take into consideration on further updates.
As always, thanks so much for playing A Fishy RPG! We encourage you to give us a review about the game, so we can have more feedback to work with on further updates.
Thanks and have fun!

Hello!
Hope everyone is okay!
We're happy to announce that we've just released A Fishy RPG v1.2, the second Major Update!
In this version, we focused mainly on the story, aiming at finalizing the core lore of the game and the two possible endings, but we also added a lot of other things. Check the list below:
1) Legendary Fish
*Before this update, the game had 3.000 procedurally generated fish, distinguable only by number (n_1 to n_3000), and fishes number 1 to 9 were the legendary ones. We decided to change this a bit, and now there are 18 legendary fish, and all of them are different also in shape. We also integrated these specific fishes a bit more into the game's story.
2) Cataloguing and save
*Inside your book, you will notice that all these legendary fishes are now possible to catalogue and will appear/remain inside your book with an autosave feature when you get them.
3) Steam Achievements
*25 Steam Achievements added. One achievement for each legendary fish (18 total), 2 achievements for the endings, 3 achievements for "grind reward" and 2 other ones - you can check them all in your library or steam profile. However, please notice: 1) We still didn't integrated the Steam Overlay with our game (we expect to do this in the next update) so if you're playing on Full Screen, you might not see if you get an achievement (it will not "pop" on the screen), but no worry, just check your profile/library and confirm that you get it or not. If you want to see the achievement pop the second you get it, we recommend you playing in windowed mode. 2) We tested all the achievements in the Windows build and it's working fine. However, it seems the Mac and Linux are not. We will try to figure this out as well until the next update. Sorry about that.
4) Village, NPCs, dialogues and story
*One of the major things we added in this update was the Village, which is located on the surface. There, you will be able to interact with a few fishermen/villagers to start your adventure. We also added dialogues with the "final boss" and other ones regarding to the multiple ending aspect. 7 NPCs were added in total. Five of them are in the Village, and the other two it will be better not to spoil it steambored
5) Hotel
*Hotel added to the village, which can be used to restore your health and hunger.
6) Minor design changes
*Added movement to main characters;
*Added clouds on the surface.
That's it for today. Since this was a large update, some unexpected bugs might happen, so if you find any, please leave a feedback/reply here so we can fix it as soon as possible. Thank you for the support, and we hope A Fishy RPG is more enjoyable now for everyone!

Hi! We're happy to announce the first major update of A Fishy RPG (v1.1). Here is the summary of the content:
GAME BALANCING
In order to offer a more enjoyable gameplay, we changed a few things about the game's level and point reward:
- Player now begins of 3 points (pts) instead of 2;
- Player now gains 3 points (pts) per level, instead of 1. This is not final yet, and we hope to hear some feedback about this. We felt that the grind to advance in the game was way too long, so this might change it considerably and makes the game more fun to play and explore.
TUTORIAL ADDED
Now you can access a small tutorial in the title screen. This tutorial covers the basic mechanics of fishing, and also offers more detailed explanation about the fishing rods, guns and portals to the caves.
SMALL FIXES
- Player is now flipping horizontally when playing with both ARROWS and AWSD;
- Added a new sprite to the "EXIT" portal, which can also be found in the tutorial mentioned;
- Changed a bit of the art from the title screen;
- Cursor is now hidden in the first screen of the game (LGV logo).

Hello!
We've been working on the new update that will be released within the next few days, but we'd like to make a few statements.
First of all, thanks for all the support and feedback that has been given in the last few days. We're taking everything into consideration and the things we think that doesn't apply to what we're aiming for, we will also point it and explain why when we release this mentioned update.
Secondly, this update will mainly focus on explaining the lore of the game a little more, alongside with a tutorial for the basics of A Fishy RPG exploration. As a preview, we updated the store page with a new image showing all the animals, monsters and bosses from A Fishy RPG. The image is also shown right below this text.
Have you found and defeated all of these? If not, go deeper into the caves! We also would like to encourage the players who have found all of the eight legendary fishes to post it here on the Community Hub!
Stay safe,
LGV

Hello,
- We've just released a new patch to the game. We noticed that two conditions were triggering the PAUSE MENU at the same time (causing some bugs on this screen), so we fixed that. We also noticed that the SAVE/LOAD function was causing some bugs as well, so we decided to remove this feature temporarily until we fix that (probably until next weekend).
- Also, we made a little change in the caves system. Now, on the surface, the portals are all acessible and they are more present on this level. Before that, you needed to firstly upgrade your gun to level 4 before you could be able to break the rocks and access the portal. We understand that this was causing some confusion about the game, so we decided to leave the portals surrounded by rocks only on deeper caves/levels. We hope this make A Fishy RPG more enjoyable and the learning curve more coherent.
- The next weekend, we'll relase a new update to A Fishy RPG to implement a mini-map system. Even though all the levels are procedurally generated, the map will show only the enter and exit portals to the caves.
- Last but not least, we've receveid some complaints that the game will keep running after it's closed. Is anyone experiencing this problem as well? If so, could you provide some detailed information/feedback about this problem so we could work on fixing that?

Hi, We've noticed that a certain variable was causing some frame drops when the EXP was higher than 2.000, so we released a new update to the game, which is already available. Thanks

Regarding the caves/layers, fishing rod and legendary fish
You move from one layer to another (deeper caves) through portals. Be sure to upgrade your gun so you can break the rocks to access deeper levels. And, of course, be sure to upgrade your stats before going too deep :). Your fishing rod as well as your current layer/cave determine the range of fish you may catch. Now go catch some fishhhh.
