Hi everyone! Coming to you with an unusually personal plea. Much of the equipment I use for NALE development is bought on the thrift, as I try to keep costs really low in order to maximise the budget I can spend on making the games the best they can be. Unfortunately, a couple of months ago the office chair I use developed a problem, and is finally giving up the ghost. I need to replace it as soon as possible before it becomes totally unusable. This is a problem because I've suffered from lower back problems in the past, so I have to get good quality chairs. I'm also a plus-sized, fat-bodied person, which places some constraints on what I should get. I was very lucky to score this imitation Aeron chair on eBay ~5 years ago for an absolute steal, but I've been watching eBay for a similar bargain and just haven't found one. While it's not the most exciting or sexy tool of the gamedev trade, I think people will agree that a working office chair is pretty vital in game development. I want to look after my health and buy a quality chair with a long guarantee, so I want to buy a refurbished actual Herman Miller Aeron Chair, but these are 350, or ~$440. But I'm not comfortable with asking for donations, so instead, I'm putting my game on offer! So during this period of the Steam Autumn Sale, I'm putting NALES1 at 50% off, and will be funnelling the earnings towards a purchase of a chair. Hi all, happy new year and hope you've had a good start to 2023! Just wanted to update you all on the state of Chapter IV, and a few other bits and pieces. Chapter IV's written plan is in the late-stages now, with the plot essentially written, but with work to convert that into a development plan. Similar to how previous chapters were worked up, this involves breaking down the plot into a series of consecutive states, working out what assets are needed, and making sure the right evidence etc. exists at each point of the game. However, it's fair to say this process has "turned a corner" now and once this plan is complete, we can start map-making and scripting. Additionally, watch out for NALE Season One showing up in a few exciting places... Unfortunately that's all we can say right now, but keep an eye out!

Hi everyone, and thanks for being part of Tanuki-sama Studios' first year on Steam! This week marks 1 year since we finally got into gear and became Steam Developers, in advance of releasing Nina Aquila: Legal Eagle, Season One (which celebrates its own birthday soon, in July!). To mark this occasion, we've put together a pack of wallpaper images for our fans, which include both 4k resolution 16:9 images for desktop, and high-res images in an aspect best suited to mobile devices. Additionally, we've designed these so they should crop well for ratios like 16:10, or various similar aspect mobile devices.
If you've got NALE installed, these will have come via a small update - you'll find them among the game files in a prominent folder named \Freebies\. These depict some of our favourite pieces of NALE art that the project has ever produced; art that has been entirely paid for either by fans purchasing the game, or a group shot that was crowdfunded. We're hoping you'll love these bright and colourful backgrounds as much as we enjoyed making them. We're happy to announce that Nina Aquila: Legal Eagle, Season One is playable on Steam Deck!
The version for Deck is a native Linux version of the game (the same one used for Linux desktop), and should work fine, even when you set the deck to its most economical power settings. Reports from users suggest the game should work without any problems. However, we'll list any info we receive below, and will update it as-and-when we get additional info. Get ready for NALES1 v5!

Hi everyone! We're going to announce the launch date for NALES1's v5 update very soon. However, we wanted to split this news out into its own update as it's really important for existing fans. The v5 update is a significant upgrade to Nina Aquila: Legal Eagle, Season One, which will improve many aspects of the game. After the update goes live, your unlocks in-game will be unaffected. This means if you've unlocked Chapter 2, Chapter 3 or the free-roam mode in-game, you'll still be able to select these when you load up the v5 version, and start from that point onwards. However, these upgrades are so significant that the v5 version will not be compatible with savegames from older versions. Steam Achievements are not affected by this. In practice, when you first boot up v5, the game will inform you about the change, and prompt you to delete your older saves. If, for some reason, you absolutely need your saves and want to stay on v4, you should set NALE in your Steam library to reject updates right now. However, in doing so, you'll miss out on all the improvements coming in v5, such as more character busts, name-cards on the text boxes, Linux & Steam Deck support and more. We apologise that this is necessary; we performed R&D to try and see if we could avert this requirement, however, it was simply impossible given the nature of the changes to the game. We hope this won't inconvenience anyone too much, and that you're still looking forward to the new features of the v5 release! That announcement is coming very soon!

We're pleased to announce that the crowdfunding initiative that we announced 3 days ago is now 100% funded: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1547290/view/2947030218280684090 This means that we're full-steam-ahead on providing additional bust images for v5, which will launch later this year (pencilled in for November). These new images will cover Anya in all three of her outfits (regular, prison jumpsuit and catgirl) and Judge Tawny (in her judge attire). Thanks so much, all of you, who got involved! Now we just need to make sure that those character images of Tawny & Anya are the best they can be for v5. We'll have news once we have something to share!

Since the release of NINA AQUILA: LEGAL EAGLE, SEASON ONE on Steam on July 9th, weve been absolutely blown away by the response from the community so many streams, tweets, reviews But also, feedback. One of its major enhancements over prior episodic releases of the game were the character busts of Nina, Dylan and Chad, and you people said you wanted more! But we need YOUR help to make that possible. Version 5 of the game (the released version is v4) is intended to go out in November. Its our intent that this update will contain a number of improvements, such as native Linux support, running on an upgraded framework for better performance, and a range of smaller fixes like addressing some typos that slipped through the net on the first release. However, the biggest change we intend to make is to add busts of Anya Miller & Judge Tawny to the game!

These will include all three of Anyas outfits (regular clothes, prison jumpsuit and catgirl attire) as well as Judge Tawny in her traditional judges robes, and will be completed in a similar style to the Nina, Chad & Dylan busts already present in-game. These are made by a new artist, working under the guidance from our prior Nina/Chad bust artist, @Koahri1.

Just here to announce that we've broken ground on the native Linux version of Nina Aquila: Legal Eagle, Season One! This version is both for desktop Linux users and those who are getting a Steam Deck.
There's NALE S1 running in Ubuntu 20.04 in a Virtual Machine! Don't get too excited, though. The game crashes after about 10 seconds! Still, baby steps, and we'll keep fans updated with our progress.

This tiny update fixes an issue in the Jail map in the explorer mode, which made it impossible for some users to unlock Achievement #27. Achievement #27 is supposed to unlock when you finish the comedic "fetch quest" in the explorer-mode, which is available after completing Chapter 3. If you've already completed the quest, it's repeatable, so after you update, you should be able to unlock the achievement simply by doing the quest again. This should now function correctly for all players. We're committed to fixing any problems that players encounter; if you see any, please let us know!
