3D-printable cars!

Huh, has been a while, hasn't it? Hope y'all have been good, etc. etc. So I got a 3D printer recently and figured I could make some of the game's cars printable, specifically the ones from v1.0 (pre-Steam stuff). So I did. If you wanna make some yourself, they're available on Thingiverse entirely for free: https://www.thingiverse.com/fabiofontes/ I might make more later, we'll see. I'll more than likely make them in the same order I added them to the game, so that gives you an idea of when your own favourites will be available. That'll be it for now, seeya next time!

The final update! v1.3.0 is up!

Yep, this is a big one. Not just the update itself, that one's fairly chunky. But it's also the last update to the game, which carries a bit of weight in and of itself. A bit of them pesky feels, ye know? I'll address this whole "it's the last one" deal further down, but in the meantime...

More Cars!

Not one, not two, but a whole TEN (10!) cars have been added, for a grand total of 25! At first I was gonna do 5 like I previously did, but... you know what? It's the last update, so screw it! Also finally added these chibi arts in-game as billboards. Because I'm an idiot and it took me THIS LONG to realise I could do that.

More Environments!

Much like before, you got another half-dozen places to be doing the zoomies through!

Custom Billboards?!

Yep! There's now a folder you can toss PNGs at and they'll show up in-game as billboards! Also since there's more stuff to do in the save data folder, now when you press the button to open the folder, it'll open the main save data folder instead of the decal folder. Figured that'd make more sense now. Also yes, I said "folder" a lot, there.

Cloud Saves!

Another one I should've done sooner, but hey, it be done!

Arcade... Cabinet Mode?!

Now here's what's probably the weirdest part of this update. You can read about it in detail in the "arcade" subfolder in the save data, but you can now convert the game so it'll behave more like an arcade port. Credit insertion, dedicated top 10 scoreboard with 3-character name insertion, an Attract Mode featuring AI gameplay (was easier than pre-recording inputs, believe me), a cabinet config menu, the works. If you're someone who runs an arcade, you might be interested in looking into this! Or even if you're just curious about it, it's right there, I can't stop any of you!

Misc Stuff

There are some other things thrown in, which you can check out in the changelog tucked in the game files. Also there's this thingy I did to the main menu, I think you'll be able to spot it well enough!

So... what now?

Barring any apocalyptic bug that absolutely needs to be fixed... yeah. This is it. The game's done, and I'll be moving on to other stuff. Some of you who follow my work probably know what that other stuff is. Those who don't, checking My Website should clue you in well enough! There are some socials there and everything! That's not to say I'm quite done with all this car-flipping nonsense. It'll take a while for me to get to it, but a sequel will happen. I have made enough out of this to persue indie game development as a full-time job, and there's definitely more I can and want to do with the concept. So this one's definitely getting revisited! And I have you guys to thank for it. Everyone who got the game, who spread the word about it, all that stuff. It all made it possible for me to keep doing this.

So thank you all, hope you keep enjoying the game, and seeya next time!

v1.2.1 released!

v1.2.0 had a few of them bugs. Specifically: - The "blue ball crash" still wasn't fixed. I hope it is now. I swear, blue balls have never been this frustrating to deal with. - There were issues with scrolling between cars in the menu for Endless Road. - Related with the above fix, the scrolling message meant for Van Diesel in the Endless Road car selection was sometimes being shown for other cars. - Fixed a bug in Shifty Gear where one couldn't select past the Custom 1 decal for player 2/CPU when pressing right. - The Suburbia environment wasn't being drawn properly in Shifty Gear. Too many houses and too much z-fighting. Fighting's for the cars, not the Zs, dammit! And that'll be it for now! Seeya next time!

v1.2.0 released!

Yep, been a while hasn't it? Sorry about that, but the game has a few more things! MORE CARS
Bringing the total to 15, you now have more cars to scribble some lettuces on, or whatever you kids like to do with cars these days. What's that, one of them is hidden up there? Well, if you know you know, don't you know? MORE ENVIRONMENTS Because it doesn't hurt to make runs more visually diverse, you got more scenery to look at, bring the total of those to 24. MINOR ADJUSTMENTS - Fixed a bug that'd have you lose speed when in midair while offroad. - The custom decal folder path now requires a button to be held for it to be visible. And that'll be it! Hope you dig the additions and seeya next time!

v1.1.7 is out! Also v1.2.0 preview!

So, the game crash caused by the spiked balls the cops toss at you? I said it was fixed in the previous patch, but turns out it wasn't. So I took a more brute-force approach, and hopefully it's fixed now. The keyword being "hopefully". On a brighter note, this week I started work on v1.2.0, which will be a content update. More cars to draw eggplants on, more silly environments to do the fasts in, that kind of stuff. Below you have the first of the new cars:
And that'll be it for now! I'll let ya know once I got some more on this!

v1.1.6 is up!

So here's a rundown of what this one fixes: - Booting the game on Linux was iffy (translation: borked). It should be working well now (at least on Ubuntu, which is what I can officially support), and sorry for taking a while to fix this. - Saving was prone to some errors, specifically cars and environments not being saved. Things should be better now. - A rare game-crashing bug would occur related with the spiked balls dropped by the police. That should be fixed. And that's it for now. Seeya next time!

v1.1.5 is up!

Another quick patch fixing 2 things: - The "Rubberband Champion" Steam Achievement wasn't working properly. It is now. - An exploit related with racking up points by button-mashing air tricks has been toned down. Read, toned-down, not removed. Also added a nod to the person that found the exploit, for good measure. You'll know it when you see it.

v1.1.4 is up!

Yeah, Steam screenshots weren't working. You can now mash that F12 to your heart's content!... or whatever key you assigned, I'm not gonna judge! That'll be it, seeya next time!

v1.1.3 released.

So the leaderboard display at the end of a run had a display issue, showing the #1 score at #10, instead of... showing the #10 score. As you normally would. Because of course there's something to fix right at release! If you see "v1.1.3" on the bottom-left corner of the title screen, you're all good to go!

  • Buck Up And Drive! - Linux [98.35 M]

  • Public Linux depots

  • Where are we going? As individuals... as a species... what awaits us at the end of this road? Is there an end? Was there an beginning? Does this road symbolize real life in the sense that there's no turning back? And how does pineapple juice fit into all this? Maybe I should just shut up, Buck Up And Drive!

    Features:
    - Endless driving game inspired by arcade classics, with simple yet intense gameplay featuring a total slap in the face of realism. And a kick in the spleen, too!
    - Procedurally generated track with multiple environments to visit, ranging from the somewhat realistic to the completely absurd. GO TO HELL!... literally!
    - PINK. BACKFLIPPING. TRUCKS. ON THE FUCKING MOON.
    - Go 1v1 against another player (or a CPU) in a fighting mode. With cars. I dunno either, I came up with it while in the shower.
    - Customizable car decals through external image files. Put "eggplants" all over the cars, for all I care!
    - Controls for both game modes are 8 directions and one button. Play one-handed, if you want! Keep your other hand for... holding orange juice! Yes!
    - Available for both Windows and Ubuntu (other Linux distros may work).
