Daring Academy Alpha 0.0.3 is coming on March 14th, 2022!

After 3 months of work, and help from playtesters and more, embark in the most impactful update of Daring Academy as of now: Alpha 0.0.3! Alpha 0.0.3 will arrive on the Daring Academy Itch.io page on March 14, 2022 and mainly adds Day 2 and Day 3, but adds new characters, changes internal stuff, adds quality of life changes, original songs and many others. Thanks to Imbion, Jenivere, Kalosmuffins, Kit from "Kit\'s Workshop", K0maru, LemonadeMochi, RedRan6er and Wavi for playtesting throughout Alpha 0.0.3's development phase.
- Updated to Ren'Py version 7.4.11.2266
- Renamed all of the main character's sprites from "mc" to "main_character"
- Disabled the second page in the character bio screen
- Aligned the character bio character boxes to the center
- Condensed the "Song Titles" and "SFX Titles" from the "Captions" section in the preferences menu to "Sound & Music Captions"
- Capitalized mentions of week days
- Added Rose and Elizabeth to normal gameplay
- Added Rose, Lily, Elizabeth and Clementine's bios (Lily and Clementine's bio not available in normal gameplay)
- Added Day 2 and Day 3
- Added a "Skip Credits" button upon seeing the credits at least once
- Added day dividers for Day 2 and 3, featuring artworks from the community
- Added more dialogues to Day 1, mentioning Minty and Master Wyllhelm moving into a new apartment
- Added colors to when character names are mentioned in the game, achievement screen, bio screen and gallery screen's descriptions
- Added 2 new achievements
- Added a bio for the main character, with the icon changing based on the gender, and name adjusting to the player's input
- Added a version number to the bottom of gameplay, to indicate you're playing an alpha, beta, pre-release or dev version of the game (Will be removed once Release 1.0 will be released)
- Changed the code to lower any data to lowercase and underscores
- Changed the code and images to change any mentions of "Guy" and "Girl" to "Male" and "Female"
- Changed the description of locked achievements from "???" to "This achievement has not been unlocked yet." in italic
- Changed the achievement screen title from "Achievement Screen:" to "Achievement Screen"
- Changed the bio screen character information title from "Character Information:" to "Character Information"
- Changed the about screen to reflect the Steam and Itch.io description, and mention every artists who helped with Daring Academy's soundtrack
- Changed Clementine and Elizabeth's name colors
- Changed the parallax in the main menu to be smoother
- Changed the skip indicator to be consistent with all GUIs
- Changed the skip indicator's "Skipping" text to be in italic
- Changed the version number indicator in the About screen and main menu to be in italic
- Changed all songs used in Daring Academy to original songs by Saddle Studios, Dragonz and Thediamondcrystal, or insert songs by Lil Wawa, N.T, JustLetterH, etc. Most old songs will be in the Daring Academy (Additional Soundtrack)
- Changed the code of Day 1 to use "amelia_grandparents_house_day.webp" as background, not "amelia_grandparents_house_day_test.webp"
- Changed the hug image base used in Day 1 to contain lines in the main character's hair (Both versions)
- Changed Bernard's bio icon to include the jaw lines in its' sprite
- Changed the flower background in the daydream, the amelia photo icon and gallery image to contain more variety of flowers at different heights, and fix the perspective
- Changed the daydream part to be in a sunset part, and include more variety of flowers at different heights, and fix the perspective
- Changed "Pet Minty" and "Pet Delilah"'s achievement icons to use chibi versions, inspired by Nekopara's pet achievements
- Changed Ori and Ku's name references to not include quotes from Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps
- Changed iso bios are unlocked when a character name is mentioned
- Fixed Day 1's spelling mistakes
- Fixed an issue where when if a character wasn't introduced, the name would still show up
- Fixed issues where the bottom textbox indicator wouldn't be present in transitions
- Fixed an issue where bios, achievements and gallery notifications were showing again when rolling back
- Fixed an issue where the splash screen would loop twice upon first starting the game
- Fixed the part where the flowers when the daydream girl zooms to her side wouldn't follow the zoom
- Fixed Rose's side image bio's placement to see more of her' body and match the other characters more
- Fixed the main character's side image bio's placement to see more of its' body and match the other characters more
- Removed the "Skip" category in the preferences menu, thus removing the "Unseen Text", "After Choices" and "Transitions" options
- Removed the "Toggle" option in the preferences menu, thus removing the "Screenshake" and "Self-Voicing" options
- Removed the "Image Descriptions" option in the preferences menu
- Removed the "amelia_grandparents_house_day.webp" image from the game files and renamed "amelia_grandparents_house_day_test.webp" to "amelia_grandparents_house_day.webp"
- Removed all mentions of song lyrics
- Removed Undertale name references
- Removed Hollow Knight name reference
- Removed most references from Day 1

After high school, the player moves into a new apartment in the city of Olis with their best friend Amelia Sweet to attend college at Sacred Heart Academy. Meet Lily Cortez, Rose Wheatley, Elizabeth Robinson and Clementine Neonica, create trust, relationships, explore the deepest parts of Olis, collect clues and tons more in this semester filled with craziness.
Amelia Sweet
A young 18-year-old girl and the main character's best friend. Amelia Sweet tries to stay by their side to help with any issues or pain they may have, and 10 years later, their friendship is still as strong as ever. Amelia is often shown as a sweet and caring person, but is often reserved as she doesn't wanna show her emotions to other people. She often spends her time alone, and talks to other people other than just her best friend.
Lily Cortez
She might have issues that she doesn't want to reveal to anyone, Lily Cortez, a 17-year-old girl, has been raised to be a sweet girl. Even though she is often shown as a shy person, and is often reserved as she doesn't wanna show her emotions to other people, she often spends her time alone, dealing with her weaknesses due to her mother's death.
Rose Wheatley
"The Aperture Science Enrichment Center promises to always provide a safe testing environment." is what Rose Wheatley, a 19-year-old girl, always thinks whenever at home with Iris Wheatley, her sister, and her parents. A Portal 2 lover to the core. While Rose is generally an outgoing and active person, she usually spends most of her time with her best friend, Lily Cortez, to overcome Lily's depression due to her mother's death.
Elizabeth Robinson
"And though I know, since you've awakened her again. She depends on you, she depends on you." While she is a fan of Porter Robinson, Elizabeth Robinson, an 18-year-old girl, is often told she is an angel, she's usually sweet, caring and passionate about others but if she's in a debate, she will push it beyond her limits, trying every inch to win it.
Clementine Neonica
VANISHMENT THIS WORLD! If you feel weird about her behavior, it's common with Clementine Neonica, an 18-year-old girl. She is a chūnibyō, constantly living out her fantasies and exhibiting strange behaviors as a result. She's very open about them, and she claims that she has "Fast Movement" and "Hard Light Construct", and a crystal which "traps light in order to use her powers at night". Though she does her best to commit to her fantasies, she can break character, such as when she feels embarrassed or flustered.
This game covers sensitive topics which some players may find upsetting. Please see in-game for more details.
