Hi all, We have an important update about the future of Mythic to share with you today. Mythic was a passion project for us from the beginning, and we quit our jobs in 2022 to focus on finishing the game. We were hoping that we would earn enough money from the launch to let us pay rent and keep working on Mythic, and even hire an artist to help with future content. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. We are so grateful to everyone who supported us at launch by buying and playing Mythic. We made enough to just keep the servers on, but not enough to do more beyond that. The Mythic servers have been on since launch, but almost a year and half later, our funds have finally dwindled down to the point where we can no longer afford the server upkeep. So, we have made the very difficult decision to sunset Mythic. Mythic's servers will continue running till the end of this month and will be turned off permanently on May 1st. Bug fixes:
Hi Wanderers, The Frost Trials minigame is now live and available to play! Compete with your fellow wanderers to secure the mysterious keystones - all in the name of Science. Will you make a name for yourself and secure a spot on the global leaderboards? The Frost Trials are held deep inside the Water Domain. For players with access to Mythic now, use the portal (Astral Projector) located in the Gauntlet lobby. It will open up a map - click on the portal icon on the map to be teleported to the new Frost Trials lobby! Note - you must have defeated the order boss already in order to access the Portal. We are so excited to finally share the Frost Trials with you - we have worked hard on this minigame and it's been a blast testing it out internally. Hi Wanderers, We hope you've been enjoying the new Water Domain room! I've been struggling to find a Winter's Bite these past few days but I'm sure I'll get lucky (with my divine infused Treasure Hunter's Flask). We have been working on the water biome recently, especially the new minigame we announced The Frost Trials! I want to try something new today and share a bit more of what goes on behind-the-scenes - specifically some of our work designing the Water Domain - let me know what you think! Hey Wanderers, This week we have been working hard on - you guessed it - the Water Biome! Since we had to delay our launch, we want to make up for that by providing what content is ready as early as possible for players with access. Please find detailed notes below on today's major update.
Hi Wanderers, We have an important announcement today about the launch of Mythic: We have been working 12+ hour days every day to try to get everything ready in time for release. There's nothing more important to us than delivering what we promise. But it's become clear to us that we have to choose between not delivering when we wanted to and not delivering what we wanted to. We've made the difficult decision to delay the release (originally set for Aug 24th) rather than release something on time that isn't ready. Our new launch date will be Thursday, September 29th. Were sorry to make you guys wait but we promise its going to be worth it. An update on what we're working on: For the past 2.5 weeks, we've been working on networking. The good news is we've made huge progress, and large parts of the game are now playable even with 500+ ping. The bad news is, some parts are still not finished. We need to spend a little bit more time on this before we're happy with the result. For now, we're going to take a little break from working on networking and focus on finishing up the water biome. Mostly this means implementing animations, sounds, and quests. We also have some ideas about a minigame we'd like to add to the water biome, so we'll spend some time on that. We think all this should take about a week. Once we're done, the first room of the water biome will open up, and Mythic Origins players will have access to some new gear and a new crafting station! After that we'll get back to networking for (hopefully) another week. Finally we'll spend a week localizing the game into all the other languages and finishing controller support. Mythic Origins is an action-packed experience filled with enemies, loot, a cool boss fight, and a gauntlet minigame with a global leaderboard. We have a few major updates to share! First of all, we want to thank everyone who participated in Steam Next Fest and tried out our demo. It was an incredible opportunity for us to see Mythic reach such a broad audience and we received some really useful feedback from you all.
Coming up, please mark your calendars this week as our free prologue for Mythic titled 'Mythic Origins' is launching on Thursday! Mythic Origins will be a short, action-packed experience where you will play through a fully overhauled early game in the Order domain packed with enemies, loot, and the Order boss himself! Of course, the gauntlet minigame will make its return to give you a chance at a coveted spot on our global leaderboards.

Next, we have been redesigning the early game experience from ground up. This includes an entirely new tutorial quest line, Mythic's first NPCs with dialog, and new items, too!

Here's some more details of what we changed:
Features:
- Completely reworked quest system
- Multiple new NPCs with dialog and idle state animations
- On-screen objectives for current quest added to the HUD (below health bar)
- Added gate opening/closing and portal activation animations
- Brand new Gauntlet item reward (tied to new Gauntlet quest)
- Overall UI improvement (changed multiple button wordings, text sizes, etc)
Bugfixes:
- fixed a bug where a ghost of a mite would flash for one frame after it was killed
- fixed multiple bugs related to new quest system
- multiple other smaller bugfixes.
Other QoL updates:
- rebound dash from [Shift] to [Space]

Dear Wanderers, We have an exciting update today - our second public beta is live now as a free demo! It is available on our Steam store page, so make sure to try it out! This new demo is fully online, includes all the content from the previous one, and features the much anticipated Fire Biome - this is a completely new region in Mythic filled with exciting new loot, quests, puzzles, the fire boss himself, and much more. This has been an eventful week for us here at Abyssal Studios! We have successfully implemented localizations of our Steam store page in 7 new languages. This has been something that we have really been looking forward to for a long time.

- Procedural death animations added for the player character and mobs in-game.
- Quest Complete/Party Invite popups added. Now you can will get a notification as soon as someone invites you to their party and also upon completing a quest.
Bugfixes
- Fixed a bug where the artillery firing sound wasn't audible if it was a certain distance away from you.
- Fixed a bug where the artillery firing sound could continue even after it's killed.
- Multiple other smaller bugfixes.

Our first free demo ended on Wednesday night and we couldn't be happier with all the amazing feedback and support we received from the community. We loved hearing what you think of Mythic, positive or negative, and are committed to incorporating as much of your feedback into the game as possible.
There will be another free beta in about a month. It will include many more domains to explore, as well as new loot, enemies, puzzles, bosses, and more. You can expect the world to be 5-10 times bigger in the next beta than it was in this one! Stay tuned to our discord for regular updates on our progress. We can't wait to see you all there!
We have already began making some fixes and adding new features to Mythic based on your feedback. You can find detailed patchnotes below.

- Loot popups added. Now you can see the detailed stats of an item picked up from a chest and compare it to an existing item you have equipped.
- Added a setting to always show player nametags in-game.
Bugfixes
- Fixed a bug where you can't press Q during the quest popup notification.
- Fixed a bug where the boss loot popup doesn't say 'Press shift to unlock dash'.
- Fixed a bug where looking a different direction when entering a room can lead to unexpected behavior.
- Fixed a bug on the party screen.
- Fixed a bug where getting timed out in the boss room could cause permadeath.
- Multiple other smaller bugfixes.

Dear Wanderers, Over the past week, we have made a number of changes and updates to Mythic based on all the great feedback we received in our Steam Discussions page and our Discord. As the Going Rogue festival nears its end, please continue posting there if anything is buggy or just unfun. You can find detailed patchnotes below. Features - Player nameplates added. Now you can see the names of people you run into in-game (which also means you can invite them to party!) - Players now allowed to help their party kill the boss, even if they have already killed it themselves - Wave counter added to the gauntlet Bugfixes - Fixed a bug where quests allowed you to turn them in multiple times and keep getting rewards - Several other smaller bugfixes Improvements - Increased instance caps everywhere, so the game will feel more populated - Stopped players from losing currency when dying in the gauntlet - Turned down the default master volume and the music volume in particular - Made it easier to walk through doors even if you aren't standing in the exact center Balancing - Buff to shield potions - Greatly increased the amount of loot near the spawn, making it easier to find your first sword As always, server resets cause the randomized rooms to reset with new level generations to explore and new chests to open. Hi everyone,
Here at Abyssal Studios we are a two man team and PAX East this year was the first gaming convention both of us had ever been to (personally and professionally).
It was also the first time we showed Mythic to the world and we couldn't have asked for a better audience. Hundreds of players got to fight the first boss and survive against the hordes of enemies in the minigame!
Here you can see Secret_fish and me - together we make up the two man team at Abyssal Studios!
If we have any regrets, it's only that we didn't take more pictures!
Now that PAX East is finally over, it's time for the next step of our journey. We are launching the first free demo for Mythic on Monday, May 2, at 10 AM PST. It will be available to play for a week, so if you're interested please download and try it out!
