UI rework for Windows

Hello,

The windows version has been reworked to offer a better UI for all resolutions.

The 1024*768 screens had been somehow completely forgotten, which was a real shame: the interface has been heavily reworked to suit these screens.
My apologies to all of you who suffered in silence.


I also experimented with new threats buttons on the map
(still in the windows version for the moment)





Starting in 1967, a Black Power icon can be used and starting in 1968, a new left icon.

Threats are evolving fast during the last years of the game and you where many to ask this feature.

Last update results and What I am working on now

[h2]Feed Back : Last Update effects on Gameplay[/h2]

The long scenario enables you to play longer, and most of you can now go past 1964 at least.
By that time, good players should have gotten rid of the Klan (often with only the nasty Silver Dollars organization remaining).
The Mafia proved also to be more managable with the early events, but you are still 0.1% only to have defeated the New York Mafia.
You should probably let the Mafia alone as long as you can, or focus only on the weakiest mafias (you are 3% to have erradicated the Chicago Mafia).
The long scenario starting in 1957 is also perfect for grooming the PCUS and use it as a Trust points livestock for mid-game.

The new case management tool seems to have been helpful and the number of won games seems to have increased. (I have no precise metrics here but the achievement score and discussions with players)

Is there anything to change?
Tell me! I was wondering if I should change the Trust mechanism, so you could have a negative score. You would lose in that case only if the score is still negative at the end of the turn.

New Big Life Changing Update!

It has been a long time, but that patch changes it all!
Yes, really!

What's new :

[h2]A long 1957-1972 Scenario[/h2]
With the events of the pre-Kennedy era, you have plenty occasions to groom your favorite communists cells. It is also the time to choose your stand against the Mafia.
As the first years are quite quiet, you will be able to set your long term strategy without stress.

[h2]An easy mod[/h2]
You start with a lot of Trust and Self Control, and a lot of fresh G-men waiting for their first mission.
In my opinion, that, with a start in 1957 makes the game too easy, but it is a nice way of discovering the game.

[h2]You will love that button[/h2]



That magic buttons awaits you on the map screen...
It opens the one screen where you can access ALL the files, and sort them by any order that suits your needs.

This is perfect to manage your undercover agents all accreoss the USA for exemple.
But you will find many other uses for that magic window.



Well, ok, an excel spreadsheet would have done the same job, but it is nonetheless magic.

THOSE ANNOYING ORGANIZATIONS

What's new?


  • An annoying save game bug have been eradicated
  • Interstate Cargo Theft has been nerfed
  • The UI has been optimized for some resolutions


XXX HIGLIGHT ON THOSE ANNOYING ORGANIZATIONS xxxx

They are a lot of fancy organizations in Jey's Empire, but they are also those classical boring criminals.
I want to give you some tips about the behaviour of those organizations players often tend to ignore (until it's too late).
Beware: The Max scores given here can be changed by players actions.

[h3]Interstate Cargo Theft[/h3]

Max activity score : 33
Max Threat score: 10

Evolution & Turning points: At an activity score of 10, this organization will try to bribe local policemen, so try to neutralize them before they get that kind of immunity buff. (They have been nerfed, see below).

[h3]Bank Robbers[/h3]

Max activity: 50
Max violence: 15
Max threat : 10

Evolution & Turning points :
In some ways, we can say that this criminal activity autoregulates itself.
When their activity score and threat score begin to rise too high, they tend to spend some time hidding and spending dumbly their dollars, may be across the Mexican border. You will lose their tracks but they will came back less dangerous.
Bank Robbers may in some cases become very violent : this is just a matter of time before they die in a violent shoot up.

[h3]Car Theft[/h3]

Max activity : 20
Max threat : 8

Evolution & Turning points: those are boring, as they only develop their activity to a point they become dangerous for your trust, but without ever becoming one of the major threat. They have great chances of becoming the organizations that make you lose the game because you will have allways some nastier guys to fight.

[h3]Fugitives[/h3]

Evolution & Turning points: Even if you don't chase them, they will at some point make a mistake and be arrested. You just have to be patient...
BUT, there is one outcome you really don't want: Imagine the local police arresting them and taking all the pride for that arrest...
Fugitives are one of the rare early game foes that can make you lose Self Control points. That won't be a problem until mid-end game, but that means that you will have to change your behaviour at some point in the game.


XXX LAST PATCH CONTENT xxx

[h2]Interstate Cargo Theft nerfed[/h2]

This type of criminal activities tended to become monsters if you did not checked them in time.
It will still be the case, but they will grow slower and their their max activity score is now only 33 (vs. 50 previously).

They are still a threat, but you now have some extra turns to deal with them and you will lose Trust every 3 turns instead of every 2 turns when they are at their maximum level.



[h2]Killed bug[/h2]

Did you notice that after saving/reloading a game, you seemed to lose some actions against organizations you gained via events?

This was particulary the case for the Black Panther files...

This bug is no more, and now, dealing with the Black panthers will be a piece of cake!

[h2]Screen Resolution optimization[/h2]

The texts of the scenarios were cut with some screen resolutions : that should not be still the case now.

Nerf & balance december patch

The game balance has been modified to get the 1960-1972 game easier to win.
(Accumulated errors are fatal on this long scenario)

Klans

1) Most of Klans action results have now lower maximum effects.
2) Effects of Civil Right actions on klans and white hate groups have been nerfed
3) The Silver Dollars Group starts with 5 in activity score (it was 10 before)
4) Lynching and bombing actions by the klan unlock the wiretapping FBI action and the Lab priority
(if that klan is not underground)

==> Beware, the Klan is still your worst mid-game nightmare.

Pro tip : The good old strategies against the klan still apply.
One of the best way to deal with the klans is using Mickey White as local SAC and inflitrate the klans to create dissents.
When a Klavern has become to violent for your underground agents, use Turnbull as your local SAC instead.

Stolen car trafficking

1) Some of those crime organizations start with lower scores,
2) their maximum size is now 2 instead of 3,
3) they now grow slightly slower.

Pro tip : Stolen car organized crime will need less agents now. What will you do with that extra manpower ?

Bank Robberies

1) The maximum activity score for bank robbers has been halved
2) Bank robbers now can spend some hollydays south of the Rio Grande, lowering their activity and threat scores

Pro tip : That patch does not immunize you against that long forgotten bank robberie case that will finally make you lose. Keep watching them closely.

The game still needs Machiavellian big-brain long-term strategy, but it is now slightly easier.

That Game is damn hard for sure!

To let you explore different strategies until you find the winning ones, we unlocked the playtester's cheat codes.

Here are the cheat codes:

-->Get 100 Trust : just type "c"

-->Get 100 Self Control : just type "s"

--> 1000 more G-Men (one time only cheat) : just type "q" (as Quantico)

--> Make one more personal file call this turn : type "f"

That's just that simple!

Jey's Empire : a sequel, a new look and a demo

So, what's new ?

RED SCARE

The work on a Jey's Empire sequel called "Red Scare" has begun. This game will cover the 1945-1957 era, with a a lot of communist chasing.

From the Rosenberg's execution to the McCarthy's witch hunt, you will be more than ever the puppet master.

If things go well, Red Scare could be released at the end of 2021

A NICER USER INTERFACE

We also improved the user interface of your Jey's Empire (no revolution here but nicer screens)

A DEMO

Also, the game now has a free playable demo, so if you don't own the game and are curious, you have a great opportunity to try it.
