Guntech 2.24 is live now! - New Seasonal level, "Easter Egg Hunt", where you hunt for eggs Guntech-style, with your rocket ship! - Improvements to the way level goals are displayed during the level and after the level - New control mode: You can opt to disable thrusting with the left stick and thrust using the right trigger instead. Using this mode, the left stick controls the direction of the ship while the trigger controls thrust. - Major change in how content is unlocked: ALL 5 worlds and the seasonal levels are now unlocked at the start of the game. The levels within each level are still locked (except for the first level) as before, but you can now jump between the worlds. If you get stuck somewhere, you can jump to another world and continue playing there.

Guntech 2.21 was just released! - This new version adds level restart to the in-game menu, and a guide about the level stars to the end-of-level screen - Missile weapon is now also available for the player. Earlier this was only used by the enemy cannons - Fixed a bug that caused the leaderboard to not load if the leaderboard contained a deleted player account (high scores were still saved, the list just wasn't showing up) - Permanent price reduction! We tried dropping the price of the Xbox version and it worked well, so we did the same on Steam! [previewyoutube=vngaNEWXR-8;full][/previewyoutube]

The previous update had a bug in cross-platform leaderboards which affected Windows users. Mac and Linux builds worked fine, so they have not been updated at this time.

Guntech has been updated to version 2.16. This update fixes an issue that occurred when a level was replayed after completing it. This manifested as incorrect scoring and ship health being set to infinite - all of these reported issues are now fixed.

Guntech update 2.15 is live now, with the following improvements:
- The progress saving functionality still had an issue. The saving worked, but it was done only once during a game session due to a silly mistake by the developer (me). This has now been fixed and according to my tests, everything works fine.
- There's no leaderboard entry even when a level is not finished. I realized some levels are quite hard and you can get a good score even if you don't finish the level. Now you'll be rewarded with an entry to the leaderboards!
- Fixed a rare bug that caused the ship to get "stuck" at the start of a level
- Fixed a rare bug that caused you to sometimes lose controls when returning to the main menu
- Changed the quit from the level so that it now returns back to the level selector, instead of going all the way back to the main menu
- Fixed a bug that prevented you from going from the level selector to the main menu

We launched Guntech 2 with a really unfortunate bug - it would wipe out your previous progress when you started a new game. This didn't happen for all users, and of course, it didn't happen for the accounts used in testing. My apologies for everyone who had their progress lost - this should never have happened!
This bug has been fixed in this new version.
The new version also has two really cool new features:
- There are now leaderboards for every level in adventure mode. In the previous version, there was no scoring in the adventure mode, but in the new version, you earn points and get to compete against other people for a high score! Your best score is shared on the global leaderboards, and locally the game keeps track of your 10 best scores per level.
- There's a crosshair mouse cursor while playing. In the previous version, the mouse cursor was hidden, which made it confusing to use the mouse for shooting the railgun. In the new version, any time you can shoot the railgun, you'll see a crosshair. Press the left mouse button and your ship's railgun will shoot in that direction.

🎮 Full Controller Support
- Guntech 2 Linux Depot [3.38 G]
Controls
You can play either with a game controller or with keyboard + mouse. With a game controller, Guntech 2 is a twin-stick shooter where you use the left stick to steer and thrust your ship, and the right stick to control the railgun. Your ship has a total of three different weapons.
The shoulder buttons fire the two additional, more powerful weapons which always fire in the direction of your ship's nose. This gives you the ability to shoot any direction using the railgun, with extra firepower when you position your ship towards the enemy.
Using a keyboard you use WASD or the arrow keys to steer and thrust, SHIFT / SPACE for the other weapons and a mouse for the railgun.
Gameplay
Guntech 2 has 5 distinct worlds: Tutorial, Virus, The Dark Worlds, Space Jungle, and Cargo Hauler. Each world has 8 levels plus a boss level at the end. Additionally, there are seasonal levels that are funny and silly little missions themed for seasons like Christmas and Halloween.
You can play either in ARCADE or ADVENTURE mode. The adventure mode lets you play any unlocked level, so you can continue conquering the world from where you left off. You have a fresh set of lives for each level. Each level has three different goals. The first is mandatory for passing the levels and will earn you one star. The other level goals will earn you additional stars, and you can try to clear all levels to 3-star results.
The arcade mode allows you to choose any world that has been unlocked, but you always start from the first level, trying to make it to the end. You have a set of lives that doesn't reset for each level, and the game is over when you run out of lives. In the arcade mode, you play for score and a leaderboard position.
Weapons
There are 20 different weapons. You get the initial weapons when the game starts, and you can earn more by playing. The weapons have different characteristics and it's up to you to figure out which works best for your playing style, and for any particular level. You can acquire new weapons between levels, but you can switch freely between the owned weapons during the gameplay.
Length
It takes about 30 minutes to play through the tutorial, and each world gets gradually more difficult from then on. An experienced player could probably finish all levels in 6-7 hours if they were really good, but it will likely take quite a bit longer if you take your time to explore the levels and find all the hidden treasures. There's a lot of replayability since you can replay the early levels using the new ships and weapons you have acquired in the later levels, and you can try your luck in the arcade mode and beat your friends' high scores.
Achievements
Guntech 2 has dozens of achievements and earning all of them requires you to complete all levels and discover (and destroy) every enemy type the game has to offer. Some of the fun achievements call for finishing a level with less than 5% of shield left or maxing out a one of the weapons.
Back story
Utopos Space Station was the new hope for humans. It failed. Never underestimate human greed.
Your job is to clean up the mess. Fight alien life forms, rescue scientists, deliver vaccines to combat a deadly pandemic. The asteroid belt is filled with wild space aliens, many of them results of failed human experiments to create life that survives in space. You will even find a dragon in space!
