Customization
Timeline is designed to be modded without programming knowledge or special tools. It comes with a map editor that is capable to generate random maps or can be used to create a new map manually. Most of the settings in the game are saved to files that are human readable and can be edited by any text editor. Some examples of things that can be changed include:
- Unit and building statistics, images and sounds.
- Resource colors and names.
- Civilization starting positions, units, resources and relations to other civilizations.
- Technology names, images and bonuses, what can be built with what technology etc.
- Terrain images and statistics.
It's possible to change just some small things and balance the game to your needs or change everything and make a total conversion mod or a campaign.
