You might have seen that we announced our next game, Dead Pets Unleashed! You can play the demo on Steam and support on Kickstarter right now! There's not long left on the Kickstarter, and be so grateful if you can help us reach our goal! We're also excited to share that we do plan on bringing the game to Linux, as well as PC and Mac - we're not ready to announce any more platforms as this time, but keep an eye out! We, Triple Topping, are a feminist game studio, and we always want to tell stories we can relate to. With Dead Pets Unleashed, our goal is to have these stories out in the open, not to have our characters hide away and feel shame. We tell the stories we find important, exactly the way we want to. If we want a dildo in the trailer, then we put a dildo in the trailer!
We have personally never played a game that talked openly about menstruation or female masturbation (but if you have played other games that do, please tell us!!! We want to play them too!!!). We feel that so often, games with female protagonists shy away from showing her as a full and complete human. A character might be dating, but would never mention being on their period on the first date (maybe other people wouldn't either, but you should be able to!!).
We think that games like this are important. It's easy to say that society is equal, but women are losing the rights to healthcare, abortion, and bodily autonomy. Women still do the majority of the domestic labor, they make less money, they are killed by their partners, and they are told to be shameful of their bodies. We think times are changing and hope that Dead Pets Unleashed will resonate with you all because of this. Whilst on the surface, Dead Pets is a very fun and colorful game, we also wanted to include some heavier storylines in the game as well. We are aiming to show different kinds of feminist topics and issues, from the inclusion of a minigame where you can clean Gordy's sex toy, as women are less often shown to be on the receiving end of pleasure, and even less often included in the conversation about masturbation. We wrote Gordy, the player character to be energetic, and sometimes rude, to be loud, and take up space. In media, it's often men who get to tell jokes, to be irresponsible and hotheaded.
In a more serious storyline, Gordy is a victim of sexual harassment. The band's first taste of success comes at the cost of Gordys mental health and physical well-being, she struggles with what it means to be a victim, and how to move forward. We wanted to tell this story from Gordy's perspective, hoping to become a game to represent victims. It was not an easy decision to add this storyline to the game. We felt this was an important part of the story to tell. It is both the personal experience of members of our team and an offense that occurs every day, regardless of circumstances. We are working with a consultant on this to ensure the storyline is handled in a sensitive way, and there will be tools implemented for you as the player to ensure your comfort and safety while playing. This update fixes a problem with save files and achievements that were introduced in the last patch. The last patch introduced a bug where save files were being saved to and read from a wrong location. This meant that users who played before the patch, couldn't load their saves. This has now been fixed, and your saves should be back. In case you've played the game while between the last patch and this patch, the two saves will be merged together, picking the file from each save, that is the furthest along. Sorry to everyone who experienced the bug. If you have any problems or need further assistance, feel free to contact us on our Discord server or mail support@tripletopping.com Hope you have fun! We've just released a patch that brings Welcome to Elk to Linux! Until February 17, Welcome to Elk is 20% off to celebrate. (That's not the only platform it's launching on but we won't talk about that here... ) Please note: Welcome to Elk is not automatically able to use Proton, so you must enable it manually to play the game. This post shares insider stories about some of the mini games you can play in Welcome to Elk. These are some of our more playful examples, but keep in mind that this game is based on true stories which have both humor and dark moments. Dont worry, no spoilers here

Beer Pouring Game

Kicking things off we have the Beer Pouring game. What is the most important thing when pouring a draft beer? Controlling the amount of foam. Our foam ratio calculation algorithm is based on the tilt of the glass.

The Secret Puke Button

In this mini game where Frigg has to find her way home based on a crappy map, theres a secret button combination that lets you puke anywhere.

Fishing for Beer

You are supposed to catch the beer but it IS actually possible to to catch the fish in this Zelda-inspired fishing mini game.

Gelk Stack

The playing card mini game Gelk Stack is the only mini game that you can actually lose. Funnily enough, it is also the only mini game that you can replay.

Golfing with Mr. Bo

Lastly, Mister Bo invites you to play golf with him. We borrowed heavily from another game for this one. With permission of course ;)

Welcome to Elk is about telling true stories that reflect the themes in our lives. Some are tragic, others are filled with humour and love. Every character in the game has a story to tell, but there are more stories lurking under the surface than you might think. In Welcome to Elk you will find many messages and things hidden around the island that each contain their own little story. Some tell smaller personal stories about the people of the Triple Topping team, others are related to games that have a special place in our hearts. There are many, so we cannot show you all of them. But that would also ruin the fun of an egg hunt.

Steam Achievements

Some of the achievements in Welcome to Elk are a personal touch from the members of the Triple Topping team. You might be lucky to find Astrids (Co-writer & Director) secret-but-not-so-secret-anymore hotdog recipe. It has ingredients like jalapenos and mustard, and we actually celebrated the release of Welcome to Elk with delicious hotdogs.
You might already have clicked on the car at Mr. Bos place, but it actually represents Anne Louises (2D artist) beloved car, Marina. The name comes from the model Morris Marina from 1972, which Anne Louise drove around in for a couple of years before its death in 2006. Marina had personality and meant a lot for Anne Louise, so the memory of her is forever sealed as an easter egg in the game.

Games we love

Other easter eggs are tributes to games that have a special place in our hearts. Although reception is bad on Elk, Frigg managed to download the game Tick Tock: A Tale for Two (2019) on her phone. The game is a multiplayer adventure game played on two devices, and is made by the small company, Other Tales, who are good friends of Triple Topping.
It might also be that you beat Mr. Bo at golf, but the weird golfing actually comes from the physics-based golf parody What the Golf? (2019) made by Triple Toppings other friend, Triband.

Fun little memories

At one point in the game, Frigg unpacks her things and decorates her room with a toy resembling a cat stuck in a toast. This is an actual toy that Murray (Art Director & Co-Writer) received as a souvenir gift from his brother who came back from a trip to Japan. The idea of making a toy cat being stuck in a piece of bread was so weird that it had to be in the game.
You might also have noticed the Left Behind poster in Friggs room, which is a cartoon pitch that Murray worked on and which never saw the light of day. Left Behind was a sci-fi comedy sitcom about a small group of aliens stuck on an asteroid theme park hurtling through space.
There are many more stories we want to tell you about the easter eggs in Welcome to Elk, but lets not reveal too much before you have experienced the game in full. We hope that you liked these easter eggs. We had a lot of fun creating them! Big hugs, Triple Topping

Elk island is populated with various types of animals, some rarer than others. In this post we will tell you a bit about the creatures of Welcome to Elk. Welcome to Elk is an adventure game set on a fictional island stitched together with true stories and tall tales, and inhabited by the people who lived them. On Elk, you will meet weird and wonderful characters, but the island is also populated with interesting creatures.

Elk

It goes without saying that Elks live on the island of Elk. One of the true stories of Welcome to Elk revolves around the character Sue who experiences an Elk stepping on her head. Elks are the largest species in the deer family and can weigh up to 330 kg (727 lb). But in the original story told to us, it was actually a muskox which can become even heavier! Imagine a muskox stepping on your head. Ouch

Klumben

Our beloved Klumben is a pretty large rabbit in lovely pink and white colors. Klumben is Anders pet rabbit and best friend, and theres actually a whole story dedicated to this beautiful creature which you will experience in the game. But be aware that the stories of Elk are not always rainbows and sunshine..

Larry the Fish

Elk might be a little mysterious sometimes.. for example when fish starts talking to you. Larry is one of those fish but hes good and he can take a joke. You can find Larry at the local bar, The Hermit.

Ynglet

The Ynglet is a strange looking fish, but it swims really well. There is actually a whole meditative platformer game dedicated to Ynglet, which you can play later this year on Steam. But at the moment, it lives in a fish tank at Mr. Bos place.

Seal

As Elk is surrounded by water you can find different sea animals here, for example different fish and a curious seal.

The mysterious Gelk

We cant say much about this mysterious creature, but it lives somewhere out there on Elk and I heard it sings really well.
